I guess I’ve never stopped and sat down to think of my accomplishments. As an entrepreneur I just think of the goals to accomplish and the work to get there.

My goals? Continue to work alongside those on the frontlines. I enjoy being part of their healthcare teams to be a supportive resource.

With the most updated science from American Heart Association I help to facilitate the safety of our patients and our communities.

I believe in leading by example and that’s right on the frontlines of our communities and within all our healthcare establishments.

My hope is to build confidence and conviction to those I inspire.

At 16, Jude Maboné was in the middle of a 6-mile run at cross-country practice when she started having chest pain, trouble breathing and a stabbing pain in her left shoulder. At the hospital, she learned she'd had a heart attack.

She would have 5 more before her 18th birthday.

Finally doctors found the cause: coronary vasospasms. Her arteries were constricting (spasming), and reducing or stopping the blood flow to her heart. It could be treated with beta blockers.

With her heart problem under control, Jude ran track at American University in Washington, D.C. She added competing in pageants to her bucket list. At 28, she's now the current Miss District of Columbia and uses her platform to promote heart health and CPR training. And she encourages others who face health challenges to be more understanding of their predicament than she was as a teenager

"This isn't something you have to be embarrassed about," she says. "There's so much healing that can happen when you're open about it. … I just wish I had leaned into that so much earlier."

Oral surgeons are required to maintain continuing education in anesthesia and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) on a regular basis, which keeps them current and fresh as they perform surgical procedures that require advanced levels of sedation. An oral surgeon’s extensive training includes patient evaluation, anesthesia technique, patient monitoring, and the appropriate depth of anesthetic.
