Took a little detour to work on some furniture. Saving and restoring old furniture is what got me started on this path a number of years ago. I kind of miss it, but not all of it😉 This dining set makeover is for a dear, long time client though. It's been a challenge, but I think it's going to be gorgeous when it's done.

A little off topic, but it sure makes me happy!! Got the greenhouse set up and ready for planting seeds! Will work on that this week. Can't wait to see the little babies start popping up🥰. Is anyone else gearing up or already have some planted?

Today is the last of the 5 kitchen/bath upgrade inspirations, and as you know, what Tiny Bird Creations is all about😃

I've shared this before, but to recap, painting the cabinets typically costs about one-half to one-third less than replacing the cabinets. That makes it the most economical route. It also breaths new life into cabinets that in most cases, were built to last years ago. If your doors have seen better days though, even refacing with custom made doors and having them painted will still come under the cost of a total replacement.

Day 4 - Modern Lighting

Adding modern lighting with innovative technology that saves energy and makes life a little easier is another great addition to your kitchen or bath. Again, there are so many choices. Make it fun when searching for that new upgrade!

A kitchen backsplash is another way to step up the style in your kitchen without spending a fortune. Ceramic tiles are a smart design choice. Go for something in a color or finish that's on-trend, but will also make you happy for years to come. Very nice tiles can be found for under $7 a square foot. Of course like everything else, they can go higher. Install them yourself to save!

If you're considering putting in a backsplash, you'll have many options to choose from and an endless choice of colors, textures, and designs. Be prepared to have fun searching, but take your time and don't get overwhelmed with all the choices😉

Quartz or wood countertops are two options that can provide the best value.

Quartz not only looks great, it's extremely durable and requires very little maintenance. The average cost for a quartz countertop will be in the ballpark of between $1,750 and $3,000.

Butcher block or Wood are also budget friendlier options. They add a warm, classic, yet elegant vibe to the room. These countertops, depending on what you choose, can range between $1000-$4000. Keep in mind, wood requires more maintenance, but time and imperfections also add to it's charm.

Countertops typically see daily wear and tear, so replacing them when they’ve seen better days will definitely have a big impact on a kitchen's value.

One of my favorite things to do after reinstalling the doors/drawers on a kitchen project is putting the “jewelry” on. Cabinet hardware is just that. The finishing touch! It’s also an easy DIY project that can add immediate impact.

You can expect to spend anywhere between $100-$500, depending on the size of the kitchen and the style, size, and quality of the hardware. You won't go wrong if you find good, solid hardware you love that will last a very long time. It will be money well spent.
