Multidisciplinary conference investigating applications of immunotherapy in curing cancer and autoim
Innovations in Immunotherapy: Conference on Curing Cancer and Autoimmunity
Innovations in Immunotherapy will show you how a single method can treat cancer and autoimmunity, two conditions exhibiting a suppressed or hyperactive immune system. Join us to explore this paradox and the exciting possibilities of how we can use our immune system to cure these devastating diseases. Currently, as the lead
ing cause of death, cancer kills 30 per cent of Canadians, while autoimmune diseases affect more than 1 million. Diverse in their presentation and debilitating in their effects, both diseases lack adequate therapies while the number of affected individuals continues to grow. This conference is an ideal opportunity for you to learn about cutting-edge immunotherapeutic techniques that can overcome the challenges of conventional therapies. You’ll also learn how patient-specific immunotherapy can address the complications of dealing with these highly complex diseases. Hosted at the University of Toronto, this conference is divided into two segments:
Morning Session — Exploring the basis of cancer and autoimmune diseases and how immunotherapy is used at the cellular level
Afternoon Concurrent Sessions — Clinical strategies and challenges associated with harnessing, changing, and targeting immune responses to disease
Interactive Panel Discussion — The future of immunotherapy and the ethical and philosophical aspects of its use both in cancer and autoimmune diseases
During lunch*, participants can interact with and view poster presentations of graduate and undergraduate students who are currently involved in immunotherapy research in the University of Toronto.
*Lunch, small snacks, and refreshments will be provided throughout, with proof of registration. Current Schedule:
