Over 40 years of experience as an OB nurse, childbirth educator, infant specialist, psychotherapist, prenatal and birth therapist, associate professor in prenatal and perinatal psychology, program director, and holistic consultant. Prenatal and perinatal psychology offers the unique view of early development from the baby’s subjective point of view. In 1989, I witnessed a psychotherapy session with a baby and had an epiphany. I saw a deeper level of presence, awareness, and capacity than what I thought was possible. I was captivated by this … and have been ever since. I continually evolve what “leading-edge” actually means to me in terms of understanding babies and their relationships from the consciousness-based multidimensional lens. Educator: Co-founded and co-authored the first masters and doctoral degree programs in prenatal and perinatal psychology. Founding chair of the program and associate professor for 12 years. Authored and taught several graduate courses in Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology to train professionals in our specialty. Consultant: I have a private practice (phone and skype) with families and professionals supporting families. All that experience and wisdom distilled into sessions helping through my prenatal and perinatal psychology lens and energy psychology healing modalities. I have a respect for Attachment community’s alignment of their theory, research, guiding principles, professional practice, parenting practices, and parent-to-parent-support groups. This gives a foundation and a shared language to understand what matters most and provides guidelines to help optimize attachment. This alignment is what I am working towards contributing in our new consciousness-based lens of who babies are. During the last 25 years, I keep developing a clearer alignment of our findings, my theory, principles, and practices. This is what I love to teach, write, present, and help others integrate into their specific areas of expertise and workplace.
