The 5th grade students at Mt Woodson are busy these days!
Planting corn is part of the corn unit, which helps students understand the plant lifecycle. STEM paper plate tower challenge, first round. Next, Friday they will get to improve on their ideas and try the challenge again. Good Luck future engineers!

Ashley Powell and her class kindergarten class at RE has partnered with the San Diego Natural Museum Loaner program, thanks to Marice Laws. In her class, they have a Skunk, whale bones, bear claws, and a spider. The students love learning about these animals, creating science lessons, writing journals, and even creating CGI problems!

RUSD staff joined the Halloween fun today!

RCC PTSA sponsored a fun assembly. The Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet came to
perform show tunes and tell a story with student narrators.

RUSD welcomed 50 new teachers this morning at our New Teacher Orientation! Welcome to the RUSD team!

7th grade science classes at OPMS are wrapping up our "Ecosystem" Before, during and after" projects. The students chose an endangered animal to research and then came up with possible solutions to the threat to these animals.

The 7th and 8th grade students visited the Birch Aquarium on May 8th and May 15th respectively. The amazing experience was a no-cost to the student trip thanks to the generously-donated tickets from Birch that teacher Heather Zook applied for. The students had a great time and they all really enjoyed exploring the aquarium as a school group.

Such an honor to support our students in RUSD and help with their journey into the education field. What a great group of students! We were blessed to provide 7 scholarships to students in the district.

We had a fun evening celebrating our educators of the year and our retirees at the board meeting last night. Congrats to all!

The California Industrial Technology Education Association (CITEA) recognized our very own Nick Jordan as the Teacher of the Year for the state of California! We were very happy to celebrate his accomplishments at tonight’s RUSD Board of Trustees meeting! Congratulations Mr. Jordan!

Congratulations to Teacher on Assignment, Edie Chapman, recipient of the "Artful Visionary" award at the Arts Empower Ovation Awards hosted at Grossmont College last night. Thank you Edie for your commitment and service to RUSD!

Tamara is an asset to our school. She dedicates so much of her own time to support not only our neediest population, but to support the teachers here at Mt. Woodson. She goes above and beyond her job title and wears numerous hats around campus. She is part of our ILT team, helps run staff training on interventions, researches new programs and interventions for our students etc. She is more than deserving to be recognized as our Teacher of the Year! JJ Sclar - BARR Coordinator, and our 7 and 8th grade CAP teacher - is the OPMS Teacher of the Year. JJ has been heading up our BARR program this year, helping students and teachers build stronger relationships and assisting in students accountability with grades. JJ is a team player and is always there to support his colleagues!

Congratulations to Megan Vansant. She has been selected as the Teacher Of The Year for Hanson Elementary School.
Mrs. Vansant teaches a combination class with Kindergarten and Translational Kindergarten students. We are so proud of her.
