DD Metro was India's National State-Run Broadcaster Doordarshan's Hindi-language General Entertainment Channel. The Channel was launched as DD2 in the year 1984 and Closed in the Year 2003.
Our Story
DD Metro also is known as DD 2 was Doordarshan's Hindi-language general entertainment channel. At the time, DD Metro was on the air, the channel was kept as a terrestrial channel, instead of an exclusive satellite channel. However, it was available on many of the cable operators in India.
The Channel was launched as DD2 in the year 1984 in Delhi as an alternative to DD National for the metro audience. Later DD2 was made available in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.
In 1993, all 4 Metro channels were interlinked under a brand name and the new channel was named as DD Metro.
By 1996, DD Metro became popular with its comedy and other innovative serials like Azanabi, Junoon, Shri Krishna, Tiger, and it was giving tough competition to Zee TV, as Sony and Star Plus were newborns.
