Although we did not endorse in the Solano Community College board race because neither candidate got a majority of the vote, we overwhelmingly endorsed
Andrea Sorce for Vallejo mayor
Alex Matias for city council district 1
Tonia Lediju for city council district 3
Tina Arriola for city council district 6
Congratulations to our endorsed candidates, and thank you to all who participated in the endorsement meeting.
Hopefully, if I've done this correctly, the recording from tonight's interviews with local candidates will be here.
If you're a Democrat running for office in Vallejo and would like to seek our endorsement (& possibly some campaign cash), shoot us an email at [email protected] and we will send you the info. Interviews will be on zoom on August 21 starting at 7 p.m.
It feels good to feel hopeful again.
Video of last night's meeting. We'll meet again in July and vote.

Here's the video of our meeting tonight with California Forever.
We had a presentation at tonight's meeting by Nate Huntington of the Greenbelt Alliance and Vallejo Councilmember Charles Palmares regarding the Solano Together coalition that is opposing the Flannery Group/California Forever. The video of the meeting is attached.
At our April 10 meeting, we will have representatives from Flannery Group/California Forever.
Meeting on zoom this Wednesday when we'll hear from Solano Together and the Greenbelt Alliance.
Email us at [email protected] for the link, or just come back here to watch in real time.
In the meantime, the November general election ballot will have our endorsed candidate Christopher Cabaldon against republican Thom Bogue. We've looked online for Mr. Bogue's fppc reports to see who has given him donations, but can't find them. Any help on this would be appreciated.
Both Cassandra James and Monica Brown appear poised to prevail at the primary level and avoid having to campaign until November. Congratulations!
And, although the results are not yet final, elected club/central committee members appear to be Monica Brown, Michelle Pellegrin, Alex Matias, Pat Toth-Smith, K Patrice Williams, Kathy Kerridge, and Paula Bauer.
Hope to see you Wednesday night!
Cassandra James for Solano County Supervisor pulled ahead yesterday in her race for District 1 supervisor. She is now 289 votes ahead of Michael Wilson.
Monica Brown overcame two challengers and has 54.71% of the vote as of today. If she maintains at least 50% plus one vote, she is automatically re-elected in November.
Christopher Cabaldon looks to have secured a spot on the general election ballot in November against republican Thom Bogue. The results won't be finalized for a while yet, and updates are coming in daily, but the person in third place would have to get about 7,000 votes to overtake his lead and replace him on the ballot in November. Never say never, but that doesn't seem likely.

Per the Secretary of State's webpage, our endorsed candidate Christopher Cabaldon is in 1st place, followed by republican Thomas Bogue, followed by Roz, and Jackie. Only about 50% of the precincts reporting, but we are hopeful that the general election will be Christopher against the republican. 🙂
The Solano County Central Committee awards dinner was last Saturday. Brenda Crawford was our United Dem of the Year. Liat's pictures are below. We nominated Rio Vista chair Karen Rogers for Rising Star, and she won. Club member Monica Brown was given the Wyman Riley Lifetime Achievement Award. Sorry. No pictures of the last two.
Our endorsed state senate candidate Christopher Cabaldon was selected by the Sacramento Bee as one of 20 AAPI changemakers.
He also recently received the endorsement of the West Sacramento Democrats. All of the Solano County Democratic clubs that took an endorsement vote endorsed Christopher overwhelmingly -- Northern Democrats, Rio Vista Democrats, Progressive Dems of Benicia, and United Democrats.
Be on the lookout for your ballot. It could come in the mail any day, although they aren't expected until around February 1.
Solano Public Health is trying to eliminate the Alcohol Drug Advisory Board (ADAB) and shut out public participation in how the county’s opioid money is spent. The Board of Supercisors are meeting tomorrow (Dec. 5th). Please tell the county to maintain ADAB.

Congratulations to former West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon for receiving the endorsement of the United Democrats in his race to represent us in the state senate.
Here is the last of our State Senate District 3 candidate discussions. Vallejo vice-mayor Rozzana Verder-Aliga was our guest for about an hour.
We had the opportunity to speak with State Senate candidate Christopher Cabaldon tonight. From his political beginning with Tom Hayden to his successful run as West Sacramento mayor, he has been in the trenches and been getting things done.
At our meeting last night, we had State Senate Candidate Jackie Elward. She is currently a Rohnert Park city council member, and former mayor there. We gave her a lot of time to talk and to introduce herself, and she did not disappoint.
We apologize that we did not have a meeting tonight. We had some technical difficulties.
This will be a good party and a fun time.

I couldn't find this page earlier today and so posted the notice about our meeting tonight on my personal page.
We have Congressman John Garamendi speaking tonight. After the new congressional district maps, Congressman Garamendi will almost certainly be our representative in Washington. Let's show him some love and shower him with questions.
I hesitate to put the zoom login info out there because last time I did that, we got hacked and it almost destroyed the meeting. Whether you're a United Dems member or not, you're welcome tonight. Email or DM me for the zoom info.
We open at 6:45 and plan to start the meeting at 7. Hope to see you there.
