The month includes weekly tips to follow by varying your diet, meal planning, cook and preparation and visiting with a registered dietician.

Yesterday we kicked off our Dining with Diabetes class with 7 new participants. Thanks to Bonnie Lee, LDN, RD for stepping in to facilitate lesson one-"What is Diabetes" to help participants learn more about technical information with diabetes. Participants also sampled delicious diabetes-friendly food prepared by nutrition agent, Keisha Fletcher.

Let's congratulate our two SMART Portion participants who completed the 4-week training. Participants engaged in learning more about making healthy choices at home and on-the-go and physical activity recommendations, losing inches and 4 pounds. Participants pictured in middle and far right walking at the Ponchatoula Area Recreation District indoor track, increased weekly walking from three laps during class to 8 laps, approximately 3/4 of a mile. Cheers to their dedication and commitment to this program during Mardi Gras season and continued success!

The 4-part educational series can be taught throughout Tangipahoa parish, it is $10 includes 4 classes eating and physical activity information, grocery store tour, pantry makeover, and cooking and knife skills. Great day at the Delta Sigma Theta (DST) Incorporated Sorority-North Tangipahoa Area Alumnae Chapter REDy for Business Expo on Saturday, February 29, 2020. LSU AgCenter provided a nutrition educational table with Heart Health, Clean Eating, healthy lifestyle tips, and nutrition programs available to the community. It was a wonderful community event in Kentwood to support local businesses. Thank you to Wanda Evans who chaired this event and invite and thank you president Kristie Landrew and members of the chapter.
