In Motion With Jake
Running saved my life. It helped me lose 170 lbs and now I want to help as many people as I can achieve their fitness goals.
Today is the kickoff for "The One" and I'm looking forward to the challenge. I managed to stay pretty active through the SIP but Im proof that you cannot out run a bad diet. I always train better with a goal to shoot for. With a normal race you hit microgoals in training but you don't hit the ultimate goal until you hit the finish line. With a summer long challenge like this everyday you finish is like its own finish line. This style of race reminds of my run of San Jose. It starts out small but very quickly it will snowball and be something big. Its not too late to sign up for this. You can set a goal of 500,400,250,100 or 50 miles to be completed before Labor Day. You can run or walk them. Even daily steps count as 3000 steps = 1 mile. Hope to see some familiar faces logging miles over the summer.
Its the first Wednesday in June so that means its Global Running Day 2020. If you don't feel up to a run just get outside and move. Id knock it out either this morning or in the evening. Its gonna be hot. Have fun!!!
This race looks both fun and challenging. The goal is to run/walk 500,400,250 or 100 miles from June 6th- September 7th. The 500 mile option symbolizes the 500 miles along Highway 1 from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Santa Monica Pier. We will be able to log and track our miles on an interactive map.
This will be a great way to make movement a habit. I will be offering instruction and accountability for this challenge. Just let me know you signed up. It won't be easy but nothing worth doing is.

Through day 396, 1965.77 miles in. Districts 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9 done. Just 8+10 to go. I let some people get in my ear and I had lost some motivation for this project. I understand now that if it's important to me and it's not hurting anybody that's enough of a reason to keep moving forward.
Through day 361, 1862.37 miles. I'm not going to hit my goal of running SJ in under a year. That doesn't mean I'm stopping.

Took a break from my run of San Jose to do a 100 miler over the weekend. I finished the race in 27 hours and 50 minutes. The challenge of this was that it was 50 laps around a 2 mile course. I had a blast.

Three years ago today I went out for my first run. It wasn't fun. It was hard. It hurt. Early in my training I wanted to quit on a daily basis. I'm so glad I didn't. Running has taught me that small, consistent actions add up quickly. I'm grateful for every mile and for all the support I've received on this journey.
