Grocholl Homestead
Welcome everyone, Grocholl Homestead is a place where we garden, craft, bake and more. I post ideas things we have tried and more! Enjoy
Itβs fair week for the homestead this past week! Everyone did great this year! π the kids entered in 4-H and I entered in the open class at the County fair. Hard to believe today is the last fair day.
Everything coming out of the garden is pretty much green lol, we definitely could use some sun shine βοΈ
Extended the sand area for the kids and big kids!
Flower gardens are making up for where the veggie garden lacks this year β€οΈ
Flowers just keep blooming on the homestead, and our fruit keeps growing!
One of my favorite flowers
Cover your plants
Fruit trees are full of baby fruit!!! So excited π π πππ
Happiness is priceless. β€οΈπΏπ
The white flowers (Korean spice) smells so amazing! If you ever get a chance to add this to your garden, do it π. Some phlox in full bloom and my baby magnolia tree has the most blooms it has had yet! Only have had it 3 years.
So many blooms in the orchard this spring! Peaches π, plums and pears π are just loaded and stunning! The apples π are not far behind and the cherries π are popping as well!
Starting to look green in the greenhouse
We added a new tractor to the homestead! A 1926 Farmall Regular.
Took the feathers πͺΆ my chickens and guineas in the past have lost and made a wreath! Love how it came out and I still have some space to add to it. π
First boil of the season! π
Leeks, onions and rosemary are sprouting!
Things are still growing in the greenhouse, there is no heat source and canβt believe these plants have survived π€£ I even have a pansy that has bloomed!
Made some homemade butter with some heavy cream we had left over from the other night! Itβs my first time and definitely hooked!
Two of my chickens are going through a hard molt. Not sure why chickens decide to grow new feathers in the beginning of winter but they do. Only thing you can do is increase protein intake for them. Also handle your chickens as little as possible as the new feathers coming in can be painful to them when touched.
Got half of my carrots out of the garden today, some go in the freezer and the rest are going into venison stew β€οΈ
Getting herbs in the freezer before this winter weather moves in. Just pop them in ice cube trays and then top with olive oil and freeze. When ready pop them out and into a freezer bag. Then use while cooking π
Pulled out some veggies tonight from the garden!
Girls were happy and excited to get some meal worms
My hibiscus πΊ finally bloomed! With more to come!!
Lots going on in the garden! My first little lemon π is growing, more black tomatoes growing, my other tomatoes π are finally turning red, blackberries are on point, even have some blueberries π«, carrots π₯ are just about ready to pull, and finally after 5 years of growing birdhouse gourds it looks like I will have a bunch to dry this year!! Corn π½ is coming along even the red corn, even have some flowers still popping up, my reblooming lilac is blooming for the 3rd time π³, gave my Japanese willow got a hair cut underneath to next year be able to put some shade plants under it, and my peppers π« are still producing. Not the best garden year but not a total loss. (And I mean as in I donβt have tons to put up for the winter)
Bean and corn are growing like crazy in my garden!
Finally got some ripe tomatoes, even if itβs the littlest one I have π So tiny! Look at it next to a Cherry tomato π
My peas are growing like crazy!
Fruit and veggies coming along, finally π€£
