This has been such a busy busy busy year. I feel like God has pushed me to take up space, to explore what I can do, to learn new skills, and unlearn things that no longer work for me and for where He wants to bring me.
But what amazes me is how everything I’ve had to take a hold of this year required me to hold on to Him— to make sure that I am anchored and rooted, but also that I get to tell everyone that I only get to do these because of Him.
I have a lot more to process as this year comes to a close, but for now… I’m grateful that I get to do all these things with Him, and I’m grateful that I get to tell the world that I before all these roles and titles, I am first a child of God. 🤍

If you told 15-year-old Issa that her songs would be heard by thousands of people, she would probably freak out. Who knew that the songs I wrote in the confines of my room would be able to reach places that I myself haven’t been to yet? I know that numbers shouldn’t define the success of my music since my goal here really is to send a message, to tell stories, to make others feel loved and heard. But man, if you think about it this way— 267k people in my room listening to me sing my songs? That’s crazy and scary! 🤣
But really. To the 15 people who have me as their top 1 artist— this means a lot. Thank you. And to everyone else who has made me a part of their 2023. I love all of you!
I’m gonna sing and I’m gonna write songs as long as God tells me to. He is my maestro— I only hold the pen for Him. 🤍

When you get cheated on (emotional cheating is still cheating), you don’t just deal with the heartbreak of losing someone you love. You also deal with the questions that come with it. “Was I not enough?” “What did I do wrong?” “Do I not deserve to be loved?” And if you don’t catch yourself, you might end up believing in all the lies.
So if you ever find yourself in that position wherein you feel like you’re just one of the options… walk away. You deserve more than that.

For some reason, I have experienced challenge after challenge, and delay after delay during the production of both the track and the music video. But we pushed through... because this matters. It's more than just a song. It's a statement and a reminder.
I still find myself resisting the gift of music from time to time. I catch myself trying to push the narrative that I don't enjoy music as much (which is obviously not true), just so I don't have to get frustrated at the slow pace of my music career, or so I don't dwell on the feeling of not being good enough for this path I am taking.
Yes, I write songs about love, life, and the world we live in, and I acknowledge the fact that there are people out there who listen to the songs I create. But it is only possible because the Author has given me the opportunity to hold the pen.
So to every single one of you who continues to support me in this calling and in this gift, thank you. But most of all thank You, God, for not getting tired of this stubborn child.
