We are beyond excited to reveal and share with you our new logo, our new website and identity: link in bio!

And our summer event in Vienna with workshops and a huge party in the end was such a great kickoff for this!

Thanks for all the photos .spring
As for the design, it’s been an inspiring process with to bring this to life. The outcome reflects what we do, who we do it for and who we are.

A new highlight are our dossiers on various topics such as ‘wood in the city’, ‘social responsibility’, ‘the significance of place and craftsmanship’ and many more. Internal and external experts report on what concerns us and our society. This collection is constantly being expanded. Take a look from time to time!

Enjoy exploring!

ARCHITECTURE AND SPORTS
France - and Paris in particular - is currently preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games. We are able to contribute with our Gilles Boutantin sports centre in Cormeilles, north-east of Paris, and are delighted to offer the Japanese national volleyball team optimal training conditions.

A SKILLFUL SERVE
Sports Centre Gilles Boutantin
Club sport often plays an important role in small towns in particular. The new sports centre in Cormeilles now offers local teams, recreational athletes and schoolchildren not only optimal training and competition conditions, but also a meeting and communication point. With its flowing silhouette, it makes a striking statement at the entrance to the town, yet blends unobtrusively into the loosely built-up residential area. A simple twist of the roof moulding transforms it into a canopy that wraps protectively over the entrance. The centrepiece of the project is a large reception hall that connects all the sports halls and training rooms. It is also a space for informal exchanges and socialising, offers a panoramic view of the competition hall below and leads spectators directly to the stands.

ARCHITECTURE AND SPORTS
France - and Paris in particular - is currently preparing for a global sporting event. With the 2024 Olympic Games, the role of architecture as a venue for sporting activities is also coming into focus. We are also able contribute with our Gilles Boutantin sports centre in Cormeilles, north-east of Paris, and are delighted to offer the Japanese national volleyball team optimal training conditions. We would also like to use this topic as an opportunity to showcase three other sports centres of ours, highlighting their diversity and numerous additional functions.

After all, with foresight and careful planning, sports facilities are much more than just venues; they can greatly foster and enrich community life of a municipality, a city or a group of people.

Have a look - coming posts:
A SKILLFUL SERVE - Sports Centre Gilles Boutantin in Cormeilles-en-Parisis
IN FREE FLOATING - TUM Campus, School of Medicine and Health in Munich
FAIR PLAY BETWEEN TERRAIN AND DAYLIGHT - ETH Sports Center in Zurich
TIMBER CONSTRUCTION IN FIRST PLACE - Kaltensteinhalle Sports Hall, Vaihingen

Our Story

The architecture of Dietrich | Untertrifaller is always carefully and at the same time confidently developed from its respective context – restrained in style with spatial sophistication and demonstrating a finely nuanced materiality. Our office, founded in 1994 by Helmut Dietrich and Much Untertrifaller, is one of the iconic agencies of the renowned School of Vorarlberg. As Dominique Gauzin-Müller points out in her book Ecological Architecture of Vorarlberg, »Vorarlberg is currently the most convincing example of putting into practice an eco-responsible development on a European level. Hostile to the cult of image, it advocates pragmatism: think practically, act economically, and move step by step from small to large scale. Concerned about saving material and energy, the approach is a synthesis between what is aesthetically desirable, constructively reasonable and socially justifiable.«

The entire spectrum ranging from single-family homes through alterations of existing buildings to large-scale buildings and urban structures defies specialization, constantly challenges and inspires creativity and an inquiring mind. Flashy architecture in the formal sense is not our style, but rather exciting architecture is, which is always developed from the relationship to the respective place and its environment and the required program. A decisive factor in all our work is the resource-saving and appropriate use of materials and structures, with a particular interest in and commitment to contemporary timber construction. We are well known for our expertise in timber design and construction and maintain this know-how through relationships of dialogue and trust with clients, craftsmen and engineers.

The office is lead by Helmut Dietrich, Much Untertrifaller, Dominik Philipp and Patrick Stremler and employs today an international team of 90 architects working in Austria (Bregenz and Vienna), Switzerland (St Gallen), France (Paris) and Germany (Munich). The international Projects are often developed with the support of local agencies and regional partners. In the past few years we have realized numerous projects in Austria, France, Germany and Switzerland and we will further expand our international presence.
