DAAA 2K/5K Road Race #1 Route
The 5K begins directly in front of the American Canadian School of Medicine in Picard Portsmouth. Runners will proceed in a northerly direction following the main road through Glanvillia. Athletes will run pass the Indian river and through the town, run past the purple turtle beach until they get to the round about where they will take a left turn, run past the Intercontinental hotel and to Tantan. They will then end directly in front of Roots Rock Bar & Grill.
The 2K begins in the vicinity of the Portsmouth Labour Office. Two Dominican Student Athletes have secured full scholarships to further their careers in track and field in Jamaica.
National junior record holder in the womenโs 100 meter sprints Kerrelle Etienne and ALBA games bronze medalist Nathan Telemacque will attend the Edwin Allen High School in Jamaica after securing full scholarships.
Kerrelle is the fastest youth female sprinter on island, holding the national junior record of 11.80 seconds in the junior 100 meter events.
Nathan Telemacque is one of the leading male athletes in Dominica, he represented the country in the Octathlon at the Carifta Games.
He also won a bronze medal in High Jump at the last ALBA games in Venezuela.
The DAAA thanks Government of Dominica , Dominica Olympic Committee, Sagicor Insurance, and their manager Cheryl Rolle,the Grand Bay Co-operative Credit Union and the Marigot Cooperative Credit Union for their assistance in helping the students on their journey to Jamaica.

Some 195 member federations of World Athletics went into Day 1 of the World Athletics 54th Congress on Wednesday, August 17 at the Hungexpo Center in Budapest
Key among the agenda items is the election of members to the World Athletics Council.
Current President, Lord Sebastian Coe of Great Britain, has been returned unopposed to the top position.
The following members of the NACAC Region have been elected as Council Members: Abby Hoffman (Canada), Cydonie Mothersill (Cayman Islands); Donna Raynor (Bermuda) and Wille Banks (USA).
NACAC President, Mike Sands, as Area Representative, automatically brings the NACAC representation to a total of five.
Dominica is being represented by the Athletics Association President, Brendan Williams, and General Secretary Phillip White.
The athletics competition starts on Saturday 19th August. Whilst Dominica's sole competitor, Thea Lafond, will begin her campaign to the podium on Wednesday, 23 August
The DAAA Executive and the entire athletics fraternity express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bram Sanderson. Bram has represented Dominica in cycling, kayaking and athletics both regionally and internationally.
Bram was well-loved by the athletics fraternity for his positive spirit and words of encouragement which he often offered to athletes.

DOMINICA TO BE REPRESENTED IN SWIMMING AND ATHLETICS AT 2023 COMMONWEALTH YOUTH GAMES
Roseau, Dominica.
The Dominica Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) is pleased to announce its
representation once again on the international sporting stage, with a nine (9) member delegation comprising of five
(5) athletes and four (4) officials, competing in Athletics and Swimming at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games. The Games, held in Trinidad and Tobago, begins with the Opening Ceremony on Friday August 4th 2023 and will conclude on August 11th 2023.
The team, detailed below, is led by Chef De Mission, Mr. Chester Letang, who has experience in this field having recently managed the Dominica 2022 Caribbean Games youth team and accompanied by officials Mr. Godwin Dorsette โ Athletics Coach, Francilia Agar Schofield โ Swimming Coach and Ms. Kaitlyn Larocque - Physiotherapist. Addison James, CARIFTA Gold Medalist and ALBA Games 2023 Bronze medalist in Javelin will lead the team as the male flag bearer representative alongside female flagbearer Godisha Joseph, Windward Island Interschool Bronze Shot Put medalist.
The DAAA would like to extend the heartiest congratulations to the hard-working Walson Pacquette , who not only passed the World Athletics Referee Silver level exams in April but also officially received an appointment as a member of the World Athletics Referee panel at the silver level for the cycle 2023 โ 2029. The silver level is the second highest ranking for technical officials internationally. Walson now has the great pleasure of serving on this prestigious panel.
Mr. Pacquette has been a certified technical official level 1 since 2018 after passing the Level 1 course conducted in the last quarter of that year, with outstanding performances in practical and theory. He ascended to the top of his class in the oral examination and finished top three (3) overall.
Throughout the years, Mr. Pacquette has been revered as one of the most dedicated Athletics officials, ever-present at all meets, championships, and any other competitions held under the auspices of the DAAA.

NATIONAL RECORD ALERT!! Dennick Luke set a new 800m National Record with a time of 1:47.62 today at the NACAC U18 U23 Championships in Costa Rica. Dennick broke his own record of 1:48.22.
