A leopard sighting is always a special moment!

These elusive cats are masters of stealth, often blending into the bush with ease, so we loved these images taken at Great Plains Conservation’s Mara Nyika Camp in Kenya.

It takes patience, a keen eye, and a bit of luck to catch a glimpse of one in the wild.

Nancy and Paul recently went on a Safari to Botswana and shared their review of time spent with us.

We believe in the power of shared experiences, and that’s why we’re featuring this Safari Guru Review prominently. We want our community to feel the same excitement and satisfaction that all our travellers do, and we hope these words inspire others to embark on their own Safari Guru journey.

A special thanks to Helicopter Horizons, who put our guests’ experience above and beyond their expectations.

THIS is one of our favourite “wow” moments in Kenya, a Heli Safari.

Great Plains Conservation’s Ol Donyo Lodge is the perfect spot to discover the breathtaking beauty and serenity of the Chyulu Hills, where lush greenery meets dramatic volcanic landscapes, or the rolling savannah of the Maasai Mara.⁣⁣

Spa day - the Zebra edit.

Here's some fun facts about zebras grooming each other:

🦓Social bonding: Zebras groom each other to strengthen their social bonds.

🦓Nibbling: When two zebras appear to be biting each other while standing head to back, they are actually nibbling on each other's necks and manes with their teeth.

🦓Scratching: Zebras scratch each other by nibbling on each other's coats to remove loose hair.

If you see two zebras standing close to each other and it looks like they're biting each other, don't worry. They're pulling loose hairs off each other as they groom. Grooming also feels good to a zebra—it's like scratching an itch.

The video we did not know we needed....

🦒Tallest Mammals on Earth: Giraffes are the tallest mammals, with adult males standing about 18 feet tall. Their long necks alone can measure up to 6 feet, allowing them to reach leaves and buds in treetops that few other animals can access.

🦒Unique Neck Structure: Despite their long necks, giraffes have the same number of neck vertebrae as most other mammals – seven. Each vertebra can be over 10 inches long, providing the giraffe with both reach and flexibility.

🦒Distinctive Coat Patterns: Each giraffe has a unique coat pattern, much like human fingerprints. These patterns not only help them recognize each other but also provide camouflage in their natural habitats.

🦒Efficient Water Use: Giraffes can go for weeks without drinking water directly. They get most of their moisture from the plants they eat, which allows them to survive in arid environments where water is scarce.

🦒Heart Power: A giraffe’s heart is about 2 feet long and weighs around 25 pounds. It has to be very powerful to pump blood up their long necks to the brain, generating double the blood pressure of most other large mammals.

Have you heard the discovery by US scientists that elephants call each other using their names?

News from the BBC reveals a fascinating discovery. George Wittemeyer, a professor at Colorado State University and the chairman of Save the Elephants' Scientific Board, has led research that found elephants to be the first non-human species to create names for each other. These names are not spoken but expressed through a series of rumbles, a unique and awe-inspiring form of communication.
