Elio is so tolerant with the puppies! Don't worry, I make sure to check frequently that he's actually enjoying this and consenting: if I stop the puppies, Elio comes back for more; if he doesn't, then I make sure he gets a break from them. Check out how brave and confident Kookie and Charlie can be with him, because they feel safe 😂 🥰
We do a lot to keep dogs cool despite the extreme summer heat, including playing very early and very late in the day, taking frequent breaks inside in the A/C, providing lots of shade, cool water to drink, ice cubes, kiddie pools, sprinklers, etc. However, some dogs, like Tilly, are afraid of being sprayed with water and don't like the kiddie pools, but still really prefer to be outside. So we set up a fan, with the hose on "mist" setting (which still puts out a lot of water), and luckily Tilly, when given a choice, will choose to walk herself through the cooling mist enough to get wet and benefit from evaporative cooling. Her confidence grows when she has control and choice, and I'm able to keep her safe in the heat
