Bryce raised his hands up like she was the sheriff pointing her weapon at him. She twisted the nozzle to change the setting from shower to something he could only assume was going to be more painful. “Think about this, Willow. I’m your boss. You should give that ba—”

Before he could finish his sentence, she shot him right in the chest with the high-pressure jet stream. He fell back, and Camden and Daisy cheered.

Camden hopped up and down. “Get him again, Willow!”

“I think he’s had enough.” Willow set the hose down and offered him a hand up.

He reached up and took her hand. As she tried to help him up, her feet slipped on the wet grass and she fell on top of him instead. Bryce felt the wind knock out of him. She looked down on him with her hair a mess and those pretty brown eyes of hers. They were both out of breath and frozen in this moment. He had never wanted to kiss someone as much as he wanted to kiss Willow. He reached up and brushed some hair from her face. His hand lingered longer than it should on her cheek.

“Sorry,” she said, her face warming under his touch. He wished she would lean down and put her lips on his. Instead, she placed her hands on the ground on either side of his head and lifted herself off him.

“She is way too nice to you, Sheriff. I would have soaked you to the bone,” Daisy said, ending the moment he was having with Willow. “Come on, Cam. Let’s get some towels to dry everyone off.”

The kids went inside and Bryce sat up. Willow was beside him, soaking wet.

"The plan was to have him cleaned up before you got home, but Banjo always finds a way to make things interesting.”

“I’m glad it worked out this way. I had fun giving him a bath with y’all. Seeing Camden laugh like that made my whole day.”

Willow smiled. “You made my whole day. Thanks again for taking care of the ring. I finally feel like I can relax. It’s a nice feeling.”

He placed his hand on top of hers. “I’m glad.”

“Now I just have to work up the courage to call my parents.”

“Cam and I will be here for you when you do.”

“Careful, Sheriff,” she warned. “Keep talking like that and I won’t be able to stop myself from kissing you next time.”

Bryce felt the heat travel up his neck. Did he want that to be a warning or was he hoping that was a promise?”

"I'm going to kiss you, Cowboy Wyatt. I hope you're ready."

He'd been waiting to kiss her since he dropped her off Friday night. She set the timer and ran over to him, jumping into his arms and wrapping her legs around his waist. She smelled like sunscreen and lavender. It was fitting because she was like sunshine and flowers - colorful and warm. She laughed and kissed him. He didn't care if the camera was done shooting, he kept kissing her until they were both startled by a honking car horn.

"Whoa.” Wyatt was quick to react and held her up, securely pulling her against him. “Are you okay?”
“I am now,” she said, looking up at those hazel eyes. His kissable lips were right there for the taking. She couldn’t resist, so she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him like she did back in Vegas.
He gripped her waist a little tighter for just a second before he pulled himself back. “That is going to get us both in trouble. I don’t think we want to muddy the waters any more than they’re already muddied.”
Embarrassment heated her cheeks now. She ducked her head. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“Harper,” he said tipping her chin up with his fingers. “Nothing about that was uncomfortable. In fact, I would say you make me feel more comfortable than I’ve felt in a long time.”
She’d take that compliment and try to forget about the kissing. Kissing would only lead to more confusion. Wyatt had been wise to stop it from going any further.
“We should go,” she said.
Wyatt went to open the door when someone knocked on it. “Wyatt, open up!” someone called from the other side.
“Shoot,” he said under his breath. “I’m going to have to ask you to hide.”
