Back at it.
Mindful and Fit reached out to me last week to check in and was quick to remind me that while there is a lot I can’t control right now—I CAN control my body and how I treat it. My anxiety is starting to creep back in, and I’ve put my weight back on.

This last year has been a very challenging one for our family. Now slap this whole pandemic on top of it, and I had a perfect whirlwind of excuses to fall off the wagon—so I did. I’m FAT again, and that’s ok. I’ve already forgiven myself and set a plan in place to get back to the happy-healthy me. Tony and I have an online system already worked out. One chat with him and I’m Pumped!

I found solace in my home gym last night and have re-dedicated myself to being the best version of who I want to be.

So just a quick reminder, you are not the number on the scale... you are not the mistakes you’ve made in the past. The real you exists RIGHT NOW. Be better than you were yesterday. ❤️❤️

One of the absolute most powerful things that Mindful and Fit instilled in me is to approach everything in my life with curiosity. Ask questions, and find the answers in silent meditation. It’s not about auditory silence either. It’s about mental silence. Calm your mind for even a moment to be mindful about RIGHT NOW.
What do I want? Is my reaction appropriate, or am I acting out of unchecked emotion? Does this decision serve my overall goals? How might this person feel?

This concept will absolutely change your life, I promise.

Tony Mindful and Fit asks me to set goals that have nothing to do with the number on the scale.
One of my very first non-scale goals was to be able to play with my kids without sweating and getting out of breath.
Rolling around with my littles is one of my absolute favorite places to be... And now, thanks to some mindful practice, and a few cardio days, daddy can play for hours! Thanks Caitlin for snapping the photo. ❤️

This is a face at peace. This last year has taught me the importance of MENTAL HEALTH. I stopped counting my shortcomings and started focusing on what really makes me tick. Mindful and Fit, along with my loved ones (especially my wife) really have brought out the best in this old soul. I’m not quite where I want to be, but thanks to self awareness and mindfulness strategies, I’m staying in the moment, something I’ve NEVER been able to do.

Pro tip. 3:1 ratio—liquid of your choice. (I use almond milk for the flavor.) Boil, add steel cut oats. Cover and simmer for 12-20 minutes depending on preference. (I do 15 because I like it a little chewy)

BAM. Portion out and add a little liquid before the microwave in the morning. Add some low GI berries and let it carry you all the way to lunch time!!! 👍🏻❤️

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Middleton fitness. But after a long cold winter of collecting clutter, it’s good to have my home gym back up and running. Can’t wait to clean the floors with my sweat, pump some tunes, and open the door just before the sun rises. i added the whiteboard and light tonight!
