Certain apps and sites make my life as a social media manager a lot easier.
In my 1:1 training I teach salon owners just like you how to use these tools which will help you out a lot if you decide to manage your own social media.
What tools do you love to use?
🙌
I won’t ask you about your weight so please don’t ask about mine!
Body shaming is a common term we hear and it usually comes from when someone is shamed for being a certain body size, celebrities and influencers are made to feel they have to look a certain way or even loose weight so that they are not ‘rejected ‘ by society or social media.
It’s beautiful to see that so many different shapes, sizes, colours and personality are now finding their place in the world and online where they can express themselves without the fear of judgement.
Unfortunately there are still those who judge.
I haven never felt more judged for my body than I have in the past 2 years why is this?
On an almost daily basis I have someone asking me either in salon or online ‘Have you lost weight’
Now some of you might think well it’s not a bad thing.
But let’s flip it around.
If you were asked on a daily basis ‘ Have you put on weight’ how would you feel?
Why is my weight an issue or even a subject of conversation.
I am here either to work on social media or cut hair that is it, my weight does not effect either of those.
I am a confident person and my body has never bothered me before however having comments made consistently has really started to bother me and even question my image and try to change it.
For what? The opinion of others?
I know that others with make comments to make themselves feel better or maybe they just don’t realise the harm they are doing but please JUST STOP!
I will never ask you about your weight so please don’t ask about mine.

Still think it isn’t a real Job 😂😂
A lot of work goes into running a social media account and although sometimes you might think that there aren’t enough measurable metrics to value it’s worth ask yourself one thing… If you didn’t have the presence, relevance and the continued outreach to the community, in a forever changing and more than ever digital world, where will your business be a year from now.?
The most simple way to find out if your social media is having an effect on your new client drive is to ask new clients when they book in, how did you hear about us. This will tell you exactly where your efforts are working.

For those of you you didn't already know…
I am Chevonne, the founder and creator of Social Chevy.
I have been working within the hair & Beauty Industry for 15 years, minus a couple of years where I lived in Italy making Gelato, but that's a story for another day.
I have always been a creative head, from my first avant garde competition as an assistant to creating an online SM course for salon owners in Lockdown, I love how visuals can tell a story, spark emotion and connect people.
All of these things I bring everyday to my Social media management Clients.
I run Social Chevy Social media management for salons alongside working as a senior stylist in a sustainable salon in London. This helps me to stay connected in a raw way to my industry as well as understand what the true possibilities are for creating content while working in a busy salon.
📍✨Would you like to know more about how a social media manager can help you connect with your dream guests? It all starts with a quick chat - send me a DM and let’s get started.
💇♀️What is your favourite thing about our industry?
WHY I BECAME A SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER?
Social Media management was something I first ‘fell’ into while living in Italy. My partner and I were making Gelato and managing his family's Gelateria. We were in a small town and although we had a great clientele which had enjoyed the family's homemade gelato for over 65 years, we wanted to reach new people and new places.
Social media helped us do that massively.
We started to market ourselves correctly and in-turn this attracted the ideal customer to our shop, which was especially important as we were increasing our prices, something that hadn't been done in almost 10 years.
Social media helped us rebrand and revive the business and it still stands today.
This is possible for every business, you just need someone to show you how.
Content shoots, Social media management and reels training, this is what I will help you with, are you ready to get started?

Why Do I Love Using Natural Light?
Aside from the fact that it gives a truer representation of the hair, I love the shadows and shapes that you can capture by using in-direct sunlight.
A downside to Natural light is that you have to wait for nature, if you are working late or it is a grey dark day ( if your in the UK you know the struggle) or even if your hair salon has minimal natural light, it can leave you limited to creating great imagery only when the weather allows you to.
‘Enters The Ring light’ a great invention that found itself in every home during lockdown, the ring light is a great way to capture images when your salons natural light lets you down.
Be aware that the colour will appear differently to real life and you will need to be more skilful in your positioning of model and said ring light.
🤩Did you know that I can come to your salon to show you the best ways to capture great images which will work for you every day in salon? Send me a quick DM and let’s chat!
😎What method is currently your favourite?
Hey everyone!
I’ve missed you all and hope you are all well.
There has been a lot of talk about IG changing and let’s face it, the reports actually have just confirmed what we already knew.
Video sharing and shopping will have a big presence on your feed.
Pictures will still have a place.
But reels are definitely going to get you more reach.
Just like tiktok reels work so well because of the music you put behind them, these trending sounds help you to get seen by more people and help attach more emotion to you videos.
If your not feeling confident about reels here are 3 tips to help you on your way.
Get comfortable around being on camera. Your clients love you for you and your followers do to so show them more of you and your personality.
Add music. Choosing the right song or sound to connect with your ideal client and also to get high reach is easier now than ever.
Stay on brand. As always with everything you do stay true to you. Following trends is great but if you are pulling too far away from your authentic self you could end up loosing your audience.
