We have heavy hearts at Rebellion tonight. It is always difficult when we lose anyone from our wonderful global scene but doubly difficult when we lose one of our family.

Stu Taylor was a huge part of Rebellion, for over a decade he was the friendly face at our merch stall and a friend to all that come to the festival. He was so much more than that though, he worked tirelessly with us throughout the year on new ideas and kept everything running smoothly in the merch department. Above all of that, he was our friend. We all loved him and I can honestly say in all of the years I’ve known him, I never heard anyone with a bad word to say about him.

He leaves our scene with a huge void that I know will take some healing from. Our love goes out to Sam, Barbara and all of his family in this difficult time. There will come a time to raise a glass to him and celebrate the wonderful man and the wonderful life he led. For now, look after yourselves and each other, snuggle in tight and don’t forget to tell those close that you love them. We love you,

Our mate Beano has Motor Neurone Disease. He's a fiercely Independent punk and now needs help to adapt his living arrangements so he doesn't have to go into a home. The leg-end that is Oonagh Sherlock has set up a GO FUND ME page (link below) and there's loads of flyers and posters around Rebellion with a QR code on. We wanted to do our bit to help and donated a box set of test pressings of all our remastered 50th anniversary albums. Before we could even put it on the stall, a man with a big camera and even bigger heart came up and offered us £100 over the asking price. Rebellion photographer Dave Ugly Punk has donated £400 for Beano for this set. Words can't describe how thankful we all are for his generosity. If the rest of you can spare some small change for the pint pots collecting on various Merch stalls that would be wonderful. It all helps make things just that bit easier for Beano.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2023
As you may have seen, today is International Women’s Day. Those of us with kids and grandchildren will know all about it as schools and clubs are promoting activities around it. We’re female led here at Rebellion with Jennie keeping us in line and we’re proud that rather than just trying to hit quotas, there’s loads of punk bands that are booked on merit and many have female representation in them. This is something that we’ve been doing for years because we believe in it and want to make a difference. You many have seen Glastonbury in the news recently being criticised for having all male headliners. But the problem is that traditionally there are fewer big bands with non male leads available. However, rather than this being used as an excuse to bash Independent Festivals, we need to look at the way bands are promoted. It’s down to agents, labels, radio etc to do their bit and talent scout too. We operate on the fringes of this argument as Punk has always had many bands featuring amazing and strong women and we’ll continue to make sure that they’re represented at Rebellion. There’s always room for improving and making sure that line ups and staffing are a true reflection of our scene and who attends. Every band at Rebellion is booked because we want them, regardless of who is in the band. As today is IWD we just had a quick count up and the following bands all have female representation (sorry if we’ve missed anyone!) so let’s celebrate!!
