Happy Father's Day to my daddy today! πŸ’— Also, to my husband who is in the throws of early teen years. πŸ€ͺ And, through my doings, has been the best doggy dad. πŸ˜„ We πŸ’— you!

A quick return to exercise after birth is a mess waiting to happen. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ€½πŸΏβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™€οΈβ£β£
⁣⁣
I understand that doesn't sound so positive or sound considerate to exceptions, but my exceptions list is extremely small...ok, actually there is no list. 😳 πŸ˜‰β£β£
⁣⁣
Even high performance athletes should be transitioning back slowly. For their body, within their body. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What is slowly? πŸ€”β£β£
⁣⁣
Well, that is dependent on ones level of health pre & during pregnancy, ones birth and ones initial postpartum recovery.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you want a good read on your readiness to return to exercise, don't just ask your OBGYN or midwife. Very few of them have concrete, helpful information. ⁣
⁣
➑️ AND THAT IS OK. They are not pelvic PTs who specialize in the musculoskeletal system, the core & pelvic floor, and exercise progression. ⬅️⁣⁣
⁣Just as I don't specialize in infectious disease or medical complications during labor & delivery (just to name two diverse examples). ⁣
⁣⁣
What I would hope to continue to hear MORE & MORE from birthing persons is..... ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
"I really enjoy and want to get back to ________ and my doctor suggested I see a pelvic PT to get a thorough exam, get important info about recovery & function and find out where I am starting from." πŸ™Œ ⁣⁣

Yes! Another mama happy to get a little extra support for her long clinical hours of sitting and helping patients. πŸ™Œ ⁣
⁣
I used the Lower Back One Piece Pre-Cut Tape to help with her daily back discomfort. Getting a game plan down for physical therapy and using all the tools in my toolbox to help her function daily with less pain.⁣
⁣
I am thrilled to announce that I have partnered withΒ  to be a part of their discussion about how the , as well as their other pre-cut tapes, can be used to support pregnant and postpartum moms. They recognize the physical demands of pregnancy and postpartum, the importance of pain relief on physical and emotional maternal health and the everyday athletes that mamas are. I love that! πŸ’— ⁣

Beyond pelvic health & maternal health, what else do I love....??

Seeing another being creative and sharing their talents and cares for humanity, a little extra joy or extra support & education for mamas!

I ordered the June box from .ave and I LOVE it! It's not just for moms, but as a busy mom I loved opening up this box and seeing products I get to enjoy. And it has some of my faves inside...hello 😍 I also got introduced to even more women-inspired and/or women-led businesses right here in AZ! πŸ™Œ

Great new release .ave πŸ‘πŸΎ

Here are the wonderful contributors to the June box. Check them out! Women supporting women can be an awesome thing!

FIRST....THAT. Let the absurdity of that situation kick in. It really is quite silly. More on that in a bit. ⁣
⁣
SECOND... I must give credit to for the thought of this scenario, which happens to thousands of birthing persons everyday in this great United States. If you have not yet watched her chat with from this morning....check it out! ⁣
⁣
It's about so much more than the damn πŸͺ. πŸ˜‰β£
⁣
Here is a fact. Births occuring outside of a hospital happen differently, for the most part, than births at home or at birthing centers. Often, mothers are seen sooner than 6 weeks post-birth and postpartum maternal care receives a higher level of consideration in home birth and birthcenters. ⁣
⁣
Another fact. There are a lot of birthing persons who seek out birth in a hospital setting. Currently, and will continue to do so in the future. Their choice, and nothing wrong with that. But in considerstion of that.....⁣
⁣
We MUST continue to have uncomfortable conversations. We must talk evidence-based and learned knowledge, as well as anectodal reports. We must create a better post-birth care & follow-up for mothers! MUST. Maternal care in hospital settings & post hospital birth is lagging..... (and yes, there have been poor outcomes with home & birthcenter birth as well) ⁣
⁣
Lagging..... the United States of America. One of the greatest countries on earth has some of the highest maternal mortality. This is crazy!! 🀯 ⁣
⁣
What are some of your favorite communities for maternal health advocacy? Postpartum reform? What do you do in your community that someone could do in theirs? ⁣

PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE

It's awareness month for this condition, and I love to chat about it to provide education about prevention and treatment.

Catch information this week in my stories. I will also throw up a question box tomorrow. 😊

Prolapse affects approximately 1 out of 5 women, and yes, vaginal birth is a risk factor for development of prolapse. But, a lot can be done. πŸ‘πŸ»

Don't miss this education this week. Save & share this, and I'll see ya in my stories. πŸ™Œ
