Now that the benefit is over, I can concentrate on the couple of commissions. This is a mock up for a lady....for a special event...inspired by a little magic...

Saturday there is a benefit for a dear friend... she could use some love from all of us. I have put together some packages for the silent auction- thanks to donations from 2toms Brewing, Acme by Full Circle, and Summit City Brewerks- these include some homemade caramels and jewelry sets by me! I have also made cinnamon rolls and millionaire shortbread for the bake sale. So, should you have some time, come get some lunch, bid on the silent auction, enter a 50/50, maybe splurge on some bake sale goodies...here are the details. Do something good for your soul.

Apple watch band received...and she LOVES IT!

Productive day! 7 dozen caramels made into various delights and 2 more sets for the auction package for the benefit. On to the next Apple watch band!

Sweet little set that will be donated to a benefit auction the first weekend of May. The whole auction package will be this set, some of my homemade caramels and a gift card to a local restaurant. Dinner, dessert and gift kind of bundle. 2 more sets to be made for 2 more bundles. I think I am getting my mojo back!

Apple watch band #2 in the books. I hope to get this in the mail this week. These take TIME to work out... and I am having fun with them! I gping to recommend that the band not be pulled over ypur hand, but instead connected to your watch while on your wrist... kinda like any other bracelet that is not stretchy and has a clasp... There is a lot going on here! Third order is getting started this week while I am on spring break with my kiddo. ANNNND... I am going to try out a new thing. Stanley mug charms anyone?

Hey! I'm still here! Taking a break from beading to knit a hat for a dear friend that has the dreaded C. She will be losing her hair, and this will keep her dome warm when she does. It has been taking longer than normal, because I get about 10 minutes at a time to knit. (Is it Friday yet?)

My first apple watch band is going to it's owner today. These are a slow project, and I will not be making them just for fun. They will be commission only, and you will have your choice of any beads I have in stock. Please message me with requests.

Worked out a rough draft band this morning. Need to wait to see how it wears before I do the finishing on it. Fingers Crossed!

Y'all. I thought I was done sorting beads, so today I started cleaning and organizing crafty lair. I found another batch while I was cleaning. 7 hours in, and I have beads to sort.
BUT! I have news. I going to attempt to make beaded Apple watch bands. Stay tuned.

There nothing like needing to make teacher gifts.. at the last minute to find my mojo again. Lol. Only 3 more to go.

The long process begins. Hundreds of watchbands will be disassembled. And beads sorted. Just something that needs to be done so I can take inventory and make some new beauties. This might take awhile..... on another note... I have lots of watchfaces of anyone wants/needs a replacement.

I've been silent on here for a bit... things have just been a little hairy... also, one of my son's hats is MIA, and so I knit a couple more....

Cardigan update. We are friends again. She fits! Before blocking it barely reached past my ribcage, now she is mid b***y (trust me, the selfies suck). Miz May Belline is a bit daintier than I, but she's good for pictures. Proof that yarn of natural fibers needs a little talking to sometimes.

Here's a little story and a little FYI. Before I got pregnant with our son, I had lost a bunch of weight. I started knitting this cardigan, though while beautiful, was a P.I.T.A to knit, and some of the instructions were shady. BUT! I was committed. I knit it with some glorious yarn, and at one point I had gotten too far to unravel it. Then I finished it (after baby) and it was grounded for quite some time. I didn't even want to look at it. Fast forward to today. Here's the FYI. Hand knits made with natural fibers need to be blocked. What is blocked? Blocking when you soak the garment and then give it the shape it needs to let it be all of the glory it is intended to be. Soaking the garment loosens all of the fibers and then when it dries, they shrink back unto the shape you gave them This sweater in particular because of all the lace panels. Usually blocking will give you more size. Which is what I am hoping will happen here.
There's your story for the day.
(So when you see a hand knitted garment with natural fibers, please just revel in the art and work of the knitter. Don't complain of the price on the tag, or say you could buy that at a store cheaper. If that's how you feel- go to a store.....just my thoughts. Thanks)

Here's another sappy glow-up...
When I lived in one of my first apartments, my grandma gave me the money to get a birdfeeder. I have held on to it ever since, though it hasn't held seed in years. That feeder ended up being the last thing she bought for me while she was alive. This will hang on one of the trellis posts in the back yard. Every night when the sun goes down, I will see it twinkle and think of her.
P.S. her favorite color was pink.

Lil Miss Hoot got her clear coats and a little glow up today.

All that's left to do is multiple layers of clear coat. TaDa! My owl has been given a makeover.

Photos from On a Whim's post 29/05/2023

So I have had this adorable owl outside for several years, and the paint/glaze had seen better days. So. I stripped off all the glaze, and I have had a ton of thoughts of how to repaint it.... now I cannot decide. Bright? Muted? Different shades of same color? Hmmmm.

In case y'all didn't know, I am a sappy soul. I get attached to items and I can't let them go because of where I got them, or who gave them to me. I bought these jeans on my honeymoon at the outlets (11 1/2 years ago!)... and I love the butt pockets! Truly, the butt pockets. Not in style, don't fit, didn't care. I kept them for the butt pockets. Today I finished a little something made from the jeans. I pieced fabric squares from my stash, and made the lining. One leg made the bottom and another leg got chopped for the handles. I will probably use it to hold a current knitting project. So. There ya go. Enjoy. Have a great weekend!

Now that the baby blanket is done... I can pull something from my stash that desperately needs to be finished. Knit with wool blend sock yarn, it should be cozy warm and light weight. How long will this scarf be?? I don't know... until the skein is gone. 😉
P.S. are YOU coming to Studi07 Friday? 6pm-9pm. Meet the May artists...that means me! (and others, of course!)

29/04/2023

I just dropped off a load of goodies to be shown through the month of May at Studi07! Opening is Friday 6pm-9pm. Please come out and see me!

Do you knit? I do! Stitch markers available.

A few more flower beads to add, and this is done. Hand dyed, knit and felted as one piece. Sewn in lining. Perfect for that hippy chic-chick we all know. In fact, this one sold before it was completely finished.

I have been working on a couple boxes.. one got a new bug. The bee wings were just not holding up. The other had been in the works for awhile. Both are available for purchase. Trinkets? Keepsakes? Some where to keep your stash of....? That's up to you. 😉
