Anyone else get tricked by the false spring?
Any other teachers counting down until spring break?
This throw back to pandemic era art has me craving all the spring vibe wildflowers!

Hey, it’s been a minute, Let’s catch up a little! If you’re new here I’m Katt. Y’all know me as the main artist behind Black Thumb but behind the scenes my “adult” job is as a Preschool Teacher, which is so much fun but a lot of work & focus. I’ve been putting a lot of energy in that direction and so I’ve been quiet here on social media. I’m finding my groove balancing all-the-things as a type A personality who loves juggling tons of different things. You can always find our art at and we are working out our events schedule for this year as we plan to go back to our roots and do shows again this summer, more about that later! For now, tell me what you’d love to see more of this year? Succulents? Skulls? Bouquets? Let’s hear it!

Making big statement pieces is always such a hard process due to my perfectionism, but this piece was a flow of creativity and pulling from my pile of greenery. This piece (and another similar one and the same style vessel) are available at The York Merchant.

One of my favorite compliments I get when I talk with customers is when they tell me, “they look so real!” Working with wood flowers for the last 6 years has definitely had its ups and downs, but hearing that makes me so happy. I spend so much time handpicking my flower designs for succulents, mixing and dipping them, hand painting and air brushing. It’s a process for sure, all to make a little pot of happiness for you. Be sure to check us out exclusively at The York Merchant and be on the lookout for our announcement of Fall shows coming soon.

Today is our LAST DAY at Cotton & Co Vintage Boutique. We will be reopening next Saturday at The York Merchant for our Grand Opening!
Reminder 10% of all gross profits from this month at Cotton will be donated to The Trevor Project.

Let’s get one thing straight: I’m not. As a q***r disabled artist inclusivity, acceptance, and transparency are important.
Like many of you I woke Sunday morning to news of a post on Cotton & Co Vintage Boutique’s social media.
After ongoing conversations with Julie, the owner, I have decided that we will be leaving Cotton & Co Vintage Boutique.
Our last day of business there will be July 30th and 10% of this month’s gross sales from Black Thumb Society at Cotton & Co Vintage Boutique will be donated to The Trevor Project, a personal favorite LGBTQ non-profit to balance out the hate that was put out into the universe.
Know here at Black Thumb everyone is loved and valid and hate has no place.

One of my favorite things about being an artist is the community that I’ve found. One of my favorite local artist Bunny Rose Tattoos has been my go to tattoo artist for the last year and when I approached them with my new logo idea they absolutely created a logo better than I could of envisioned. Look for the debut of our new logo as we transition to our new flagship location at The York Merchant inside New York Wire Works on August 5th!

A few more snapshots of this beautiful atlas moth as I wait for it to set. 😍

Our Beginnings...

When I got married in Fall of 2017 I wanted to use traditional flowers. I met with the traditional florist and was floored at the price of simple flowers that were in season, the number was in the thousands! So i strove to find a better option that would be more cost effective, more ecofriendly, and would last more than a week. I found a company online that sold wood flowers, however when the products arrived I was appalled at the quality. I had to do quite a bit of work to them to fix them. I am the person who feels they can teach themselves anything, so i began to learn how to create flowers and worked on sourcing them from companies that held similar beliefs to me: female empowerment, sustainability, and fair living wages. I ended up building a company around this hobby and now am a female entrepreneur who strives to bring a vintage flair to the modern world with ecofriendly and sustainable decor and flowers. I’ve grown in my skills, and what I deliver to my clients and have been able to help many other brides & grooms have the flowers of their dreams in a realistic budget with a lifelong beautiful product.
