Ransom Noble
Speculative Fiction Author who loves words.
I'm of an age where I have multiple friends named Emily. I spoke to one today to untangle a plot knot and I have been meaning to call.another about book progress. (My Emilies are very supportive)
So today I figured out the plot of book 3 after the book 2 mutiny. It's not the book 3 I envisioned, but I can push that to book 4...
Maybe it's not a trilogy anymore. Send help in the form of a chauffeur and a chef!! 😉🤣
If you're wanting a signed copy of Don't Tell Your Mother, message me. I need to order a bunch of books now that it's approved!

Don’t Tell Your Mother The sample book arrived this week from Ingram. I’ve been having a bunch of big feelings about this book finally being real and readable. I’ve been writing a lot of words over the years.…
the next book is here!
Everything's fine. I totally didn't misread a chart I created for my own benefit or screw up the timeline by having a character appear when she shouldn't. Totally okay...
Lorelei still waited for the confirmation for pickup, which hadn't happened yet.
That sentence is pretty silly. Luckily I can fix it.
added 1500 words and taking notes to finish out the novella. No name for this one yet.

No Blank Pages At least, not for a moment. I printed everything I wrote in this series in the last couple months and I’m reading it, making notes, getting ready for that next draft. When I started, I found …
Note by Ransom Noble on Substack Considering I grew up with trilogies in science fiction and fantasy (if not with more in series), I seem to think I need to plan projects in trilogies. And then, sigh, they spawn more threads to write and nothing fits the trilogies anymore.
Coming soon: Link to the next book and final nano word count.

The End of NaNo At least for this year. I didn’t expect to write this many words. I didn’t expect to have my project split into two pieces. I definitely didn’t expect my characters to take a vote…
Today's word count: 116k+
I think the book is winding down after the mutiny. Even my narcissistic antagonist isn't too upset.
I also resubmitted my next book to Ingram when I found a mistake and there was a note I wanted to add. It should be available soon.

I had a plan. I explained this to my characters, but they took a vote and went the other way
Literally, though, they took a vote and went against my outline. I think i might be at that point tonfollow them. 🤣
Okay, Humwe. We need to talk. You dropped an Easter egg for book 3 that I wasn't ready for AND you're still obsessed with your love interest. What gives??
Also, I managed to submit the next book to Ingram so it can be published. I almost had the Paradise ICON Anthology ebook submitted, too, but I accidentally deleted the file I needed.
While yesterday was my actual birthday, my family wasn't together to celebrate it until today (You'd think we could manage when the four of us still live in one house, but Tuesdays are difficult.)
For some reason, every time I try to write the same scene over, little changes occur. It can be both a good and bad thing.

NaNo Progress Oh, NaNo, this concentrated writing time is supposed to follow my outline. And it mostly does. I’m just not sure what to do with it when I wrote a novella that was supposed to be part of book…
A love interest for my villain somehow showed up today. I have NO idea what she's thinking, this love interest. My villain is interested, but he also questions her motives. Figures!
Can't stop now.
I love when multiple apps try to tell me how many words per day I'm managing, and how much I need to finish to their goals.
So one of my new characters (this project is a sequel) is a bit of a know-it-all, and she's plopping out information and my MC gets a little stuck, like, wait, how do you know that or how can you know that? I'm glad she's interacting well with others and not trying to hijack the entire plot for her own desires.
Anyone else having as much fun this NaNo season?
but I am taking a break to go to work. 😅
I thought I borked a scene yesterday. It bothers me when that happens - a friend said to write it from another perspective.
Maybe I didn't break it completely. Maybe it'll work. Switching it helped a little, and I hope I can smooth out the rest so it works. I learned my new POV character doesn't pay attention to the same things as my normal MC.
Sometimes I write in moments that aren't quite availabe, too.
This could be why I hoard Halloween candy through November...

Day 2 nano: almost 4k.
Finding a groove. I hope.
Nano day 1: 2k+.
Starting to believe that fiction is my coping mechanism for overwhelm.
Trying to write a new Humwe scene, and wanting to add his pet. Me, aloud, to myself, "No, Trouble isn't there yet!" I need this reminder too often.
