Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week is a national week signed by President Ronald Reagan in December of 1983 and reserved for celebrating minority businesses and owners in communities all over the country. This includes local accomplishments of the minority small business community, thus highlighting their contributions to the nation’s economic vitality. Normally held each year in the month
of September, MED Week Steering Committees in every state host a number of events during the reserved week to promote minority and small businesses as well as encourage support of those entities. The corporation is a non-profit corporation and is organized for the following purpose:
* Honor corporations and financial institutions that support minority business development
* Promote great accomplishments of minority owned business in the state of Mississippi
* Education of business management, entrepreneurship, and successful business tactics
