In 2011 I dropped out of the University of British Columbia with no plan, vision or direction. I would learn many years later that the mental health challenges I was struggling with were caused by a concussion and neurological deficits that occurred while playing sports at 14 years old.
My path started with Yoga teacher trainings, which at the time was the only thing I knew to pursue. That progressed to EMDR therapy, breathwork trainings, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, functional training, menโs work among others and a number of different bodywork modalities to balance my body and brain post concussions.
In 2020 I enrolled in the Massage Therapy program as it offered me an opportunity to level up as a professional in a field related to my interests in somatic and body oriented healing.
It was around this time that I started working with Ernest Morrow in his Left Hand Path approach to transformation and spirituality. This was the first time that upon meeting a spiritual teacher, I felt a deep and profound trust and remember thinking to myself, โThis man knows something important, and I donโt understand it.โ For the past 4 years I have trained with him in a number of his programs, helped him build a sauna, and become good friends while acting as a mentor for me.
About a month ago we finished an 8 month training and initiation into learning to facilitate what he calls, "The Beauty Way," with a weekend intensive based on, and adapted from Zen tradition of contemplation and dyad work. The Beauty Way is a radically refreshing take on transformation that denounces the premise of trying to get anywhere, and instead directs practitioners deeper into the truth of their own direct experience, without trying to change it. Radical acceptance and verbal acknowledgement of the direct experience of the truth.
In the Left Hand Path there is no mountain to climb, you are the mountain top. Everything that you need to realize God/Love/Life is within you, already here, waiting to be realized, and awakened to.
Less is more when it comes to talking about the mystery
The Greeks referred to it as Kenosis. A "self emptying" that fills oneself up with love.

The theme of the secret guilty pleasure of our own familiar suffering has been arising in a coaching training I'm currently in. There's some deep wisdom available if we can be honest enough to admit that the familiar suffering is one of our own creation.
She may have
found the shore alone

but she needs
your devotion

To wade out
Into the sea

Working on a rebrand, what do you think?
โ
โ
Of course I noticed
Your body's grace
โ
But it was the kiss of God
Upon your face
โ
That opened my heart
Like a lovers embrace

An Empty Room
โ
โ
I once thought it
wise to
Try to know myself
โ
So I asked,
โWho am I?โ
And my search began
โ
Yet the deeper I looked
The less of me there was
To find
โ
Deeper still
I walked
Until at last I entered
An empty room
โ
With a single lamp
Centred inside
Filling the space
Brilliant, warm
And
Bright!

You may ask
How to reach the
Men who've
Strayed from
The gold
In their hearts
โ
For this difficult task
The Wise One
Employs his most precious
Instrument
โ
Casting his lines
Out into the world
The Great Fisherman lures
Men back to Love
Through the heart
Of a woman
โ
Her beauty is the voice
That God uses to speak
To his lost sons
โ
Her radiance
Shines in the currents
Glistening
In brilliant gold
Light
โ
Inviting them
To come home
To their hearts and
To Him
