Started by reading the book to the little one and for each emotion, match it with an action.

For example for Angry, I would read out 生气，show an angry face 😠 and have both arms on my hips. I will also reinforce the word 生气 twice for the little one to repeat after me.

Emotions learnt from the book and suggested actions are:
生气: Angry face 😠 with arm crossed
伤心: Sad face 😢 with wiping tears away
害羞: Shy face ☺️ with both hands covering blushing face
开心: Happy face 😃 with both hands pointing to smile on face
害怕: Scared face 😳 with hand hitting chest, showing scared
兴奋: Excited face 😄with hands punching air
自豪: Proud face 😁with hands clenched hitting chest twice

Extended the activity by drawing these faces in the blank face template [FREE PRINTABLE!] and made them into popsicles.

When I read through the book again, the kiddo will pick up the popsicle relating to the expression.

Fun activity, with actions, emotions and reinforcement of learning.

In our attempt to give these disposables a second lease of life #环保, we did pretend play of #打包, and the kiddo was overjoyed! Nothing better than the real packaging!

We bought the weekday double morning breakfast set from coffee bean and tea leaf and it came with a drink carrier with 2 hot drink cups, and 2 breakfast set packaging! Swipe to the last picture to look at their promo!

Since the packaging was relatively clean, I just did a quick wash and dried them for the pretend play! It was impromptu and unplanned!

The kiddo had fun packing the pretend drinks and food into the drink holder and brown paper bag. We ‘travelled’ (by walking around the house) to the picnic site and lay the picnic mat.

We had fun #干杯 🍻 , with the disposable cups and eating the pretend play foods!

惊人的骨头 🦴🦴🦴

You know how it is with kids, when they are interested in something they go all the way to find books that are related to it. So if you bring your kid to a library and see all the books relating to a certain kind of genre, you know that it’s like a period of growth and learning especially in this genre or area. It can span across book series, or a certain genre, fiction or non-fiction, science or math and even languages!

So this comes at a time when my kids are so into parts of a human body / skeleton. They get intrigued with all things BONES!!

To make the learning fun, I added salt dough and tried to match the animal in the book to the animals we have on hand!

What a fun time printing fossils and reading the book!

I like it that the books has realistic images and the shiny words really attracted me to it!

Found a piece of orange felt that I bought some time back. And what to do with it? Basically with just the following materials, you can do so much! Read on to find out more!
1. Orange felt
2. Permanent marker
3. Scissors
4. Green / Brown base as garden (optional)

And then I started drawing. What vegetables and fruits are orange? I referred to my washi tape collection!
1. Pumpkin (南瓜）
2. Carrots （胡萝卜）
3. Persimmon （柿子）
4. Oranges （橙子）

I drew them big and small and drew the words “大” and ”小”.

These activity total rocks!

Previously inspired by monster eyes maths by , incorporating what we learnt from the beginning of the year, here comes a three pronged approach - Shapes X Chinese X Numbers!

Guided the kiddo to paste the googly eyes 👀 on the shape monsters according to the Chinese numerals indicated. It really helps that the eyes were popped out and can move when shake. It gives a more sensory feel to the learning!

Not sure how many durian lovers are there but I sure am one! 👋

As we were creating the fruits washi tapes, on the top of the list are the king 🤴 and queen 👸 of fruits: *drum roll please..*

Durians (榴莲) and mangosteens （山竹）!

Yes they are like a must have in the list of fruits! Other exotic tropical 🏝 fruits also include promogranet (石榴), jackfruit (菠萝蜜), kiwi 🥝 (奇异果) and many more! (We have 26 altogether!)

Before the kids start savouring the MSW (猫山王), we played a game of reading the fruits off the washi tapes. And the prize? They get to eat the MSW!

So what makes a good durian? Besides the flesh, smell, texture, taste.. it’s actually an advantage if the seeds are small and the flesh a lot! Gives you more mileage for your buck. It’s also interesting if I were to collect durian seeds from different stores and to see the different types and size of durian seeds! That’s what our inserts are for! Storing the seeds :)

There are so many ways to expand the use of these washi tapes and marrying games, seed collections and fruits are just one of them!

From making playdough from scratch, to adding their desired colours, to crafting and moulding it, to serving it and having fun .. there is so much creativity when it comes to playdough!

We had fun crafting it into vegetables and sorting them by colours!

If you see the white specks on the eggplant, they are just salt crystals 🧂 as the playdough have been kept in the fridge. A few kneads and they will be gone. The good thing about putting hand-made playdough in the fridge is that their shelf life can be extended - they can last for months!
