And check out David Sharpe trying to climb the wall while painting. Our CEO, Darcy Knowles, ended the day covered in paint.
What is health equity? Simply put, “health equity means that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be healthier. This requires removing obstacles to health such as poverty, discrimination, and their consequences, including powerlessness and lack of access to good jobs with fair pay, quality education and housing, safe environments, and health care.”

Teens delay seeking treatment for STDs and STD complications because of concern that it will show up on billing reports to parents. It is important to consider confidentiality in teens and young adults on parents' insurance plans. It also important for parents to talk through the importance of getting grown-up care as they start to take on grown-up activity.

He works with his pediatrician, Dr. Willie Mae Hubbard so that he can understand his asthma, knows what medications he is on, and can manage his symptoms. Sevier County's successful telemedicine program has reduced student absences and improved grades in the eight years it has been there. "84 percent of the students treated via telehealth remain in school, and the rest are given treatment that might take two or three days without telehealth. This means a quicker diagnosis, quicker treatment and less time spent out of school." The program has even saved a life! They have recently begun offering counseling services and are planning to start diet and nutrition counseling next.
Read more about how this service has helped students in Sevier County and then contact us to make telemedicine a success in Hamilton County Schools too!

"I just don't feel like there is a comprehensive group, or business or nonprofit that has everything you need. Who is the best doctor? What do you do when you can't get your meds? . . . What are the best schools? Those types of things. I don't know where to go." --Marquita

I was so happy yesterday to be able to provide spirometers to some of Chattanooga's most trusted pediatricians. With these spirometers, Dr. Willa Mae Hubbard at Pediatric Health Care Associates, Dr. Michele Pickett at LifeSpring Pediatrics, and Dr. Karla Garcia at the Vance-Stafford General Pediatric Center will be able to expand the asthma care they provide for their patients. These pediatricians work every day to serve the needs of Chattanooga's most vulnerable children. It is a privilege to work with them!
