It is with a sad heart that we share the news of the passing of our founder and one of the greatest artistic talents' of the Egg Artist Industry, Natalie Stedman, on Monday, Jan 16th.
Her sharp with, raucous laugh and inspiration will be sorely missed by all, especially my sister Eileen and I.
May she rest in peace with the Lord God.

Well, it's been some time since I last posted, but it's been a busy year. More on that later... :-)
I did make time to create the family Christmas ornaments for a favorite returning customer. This year's theme is traditional Christmas motifs.
It's surprising how many different ways you can imagine traditional Christmas, and we only ended up with a few here.
All in all, they look like they're going to be ornaments that they will cherished for years to come.

This year's custom Christmas ornaments from my returning family were based on a summer vacation theme
The family sent me a letter with pictures describing the places and things they do while on summer vacation. Although, Mom requested a natural looking nativity for hers.
I used pictures of the local area for the backgrounds inside the eggs and pictures of their summer home on the backs (not shown as a courtesy).
The nativity scene was created using bark and sticks for the manger, and sand on the ground.
Dad is retired and like to spend his time on the porch in the rocking chair. The elephant is for continued good luck.
One son likes to go to the arcades. I found a vendor who makes the HO scale machines using a 3D printer and includes paper cut outs for the details. It was challenging!
The other son likes to walk the beach looking for stranded sharks to save.
The daughter in law likes mermaids.

All in all, I hope that they will be able enjoy the memories of summer vacation long after they return home because of these ornaments.

Now that you've had some time, here's what we've heard back about the new Pencil Holder.

YES!! :-) You really like that it hold the pencil much more securely!

And back to the question about - Will the compass dial help me set the pencil?

Here's what we've heard ........

There answer really depends on how and what you are using your Eggers Helper for.

If you are a once in a while user who likes the the accuracy of the Eggers Helper, then the compass on the pencil holder isn't really going to make a big difference to you.

But if you are a serious egger or psanky egger, then it's possible that the compass could become part of a time saving step of your marking.

- - Let's say you want to always quickly to set the center point. Then you can set the height of the upright rod and make a mark on it. From there, you can use the compass dial to determine what the best position for your center point is and keep that mark for future reference.

Using that information, you could then set the height on the pencil holder’s upright rod to for other marks and then make use of the compass.

Now all this will could vary from person to person depending on how you use your Eggers Helper.

I hope this helps everyone better understand how the new Pencil Holder works.
As always, if you ever have any questions about this or the Eggers Helper, please just drop me a line. I'll always be happy to help.

Happy Egging!!

Natalie Originals is excited to announce that as of May 1st, 2021, we released the Updated Pencil Holder/Scribe for the Eggers Helper.

The pencil holder arm has been updated and the first thing that you’ll notice is that the arm is now made of plastic, instead of the pressed steel we previously were using. It also has an attached compass dial.

The biggest and most notable improvement has been in the locking device for the pencil.
- It’s much easier to open and close
- It’s more secure around the pencil
- There’s less chance of the pencil falling out

There were are couple of other questions that were brought up during the trial period.

- Can I change out the pencil if I want to use a sharpie or a wax pencil to mark an ostrich or emu egg?

Answer - No. Unfortunately the slot holding the pencil is not adjustable. Because it is molded plastic, it will break if you force it open.

- Will the compass dial help me set the pencil?

Answer - Probably Not.
You would have to accurately mark and set the height on the pencil holder’s upright rod to make use of the compass. And that could vary from person to person, depending on how you use your Eggers Helper.

- Can I return my old (original) pencil holder for the Updated Pencil Holder/Scribe under the Eggers Helper Lifetime Guarantee?

Answer - Unfortunately, No.
The Lifetime Guarantee covers your Eggers Helper if ever any part of it is broken during your lifetime of use. The Original Pencil Holder is still a functioning part of the Eggers Helper.

The Updated Pencil Holder is available individually for $42 on our website at: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1011848541/updated-pencil-holder-new-pencil-holder?ref=shop_home_active_47&frs=1

Or as part of the regular Eggers Helper set for $120, also on our website at: https://www.etsy.com/listing/151862586/the-eggers-helper-now-with-updated?ref=shop_home_active_48&frs=1&sca=1

Both available with Free US shipping.

Also available from the Golden Egg of Idaho.

Happy Egging! and Enjoy :-)

We recently had a request for an unusual custom order, and you know that the customer is always right. :-) So we endeavored to create a custom engagement ring box using the colors of her choice. It turned out pretty and stunning.

She asked for a ring box painted silver, with a crystal heart design and accents in green and black. Most important would be the yellow sunflower, which would be positioned above the heart.

I want to thank Marcia Robbins for both the inspiration and use of her stunning sunflower design. She has allowed me to use the sunflower with her permission. The flower comes from her Sunflower kit, available on the Robbins Nest website at:

Enjoy!

Our Story

At Natalie Originals, we’ve been creating and designing unique, one of a kind Faberge’ style eggs from natural goose and ostrich eggs for over 40 years. All of our egg designs are one-of-a-kind inspirations, using influences from many other arts, other crafts, other cultures, and as always, from nature.

The most favored design is a diorama, because when done properly, the scene will tell a story. Which is fascinating when you realize that all of this is packed inside the space of a (goose) egg.

Our most commonly used eggs are are duck eggs, goose eggs, emu eggs and an occasional rhea egg and ostrich egg. As the egg art industry has now been established for over 40 years, all of these eggs, and many others, are available through licensed distributors.

Because of it’s versatile size we prefer to use the goose egg for most of our designs. Duck eggs are used for the smaller designs, such as the Christmas ornaments. Depending on the design and color, an emu egg, or a rhea egg, is used for something in the middle 13” size range. And then an ostrich egg for a really large design. In many contemporary designs, some or even all of these eggs have are used together to form the whole design scheme.

We strive to use on the best quality materials to finish our eggs, with Swarovski jewels, gold plated findings and stands.

We also continue to offer the original Eggers Helper, with it’s lifetime guarantee at purchase. For over 40 years we have offered the best precision egg marker to the our egg artists. The “Blue Marker” with it’s egg holding frame and pencil holder, with the pencil that can be set where you want it, is the industry standard that all recommend.

We are always here to help all egg artists with their questions concerning how to use the Eggers Helper. Just drop us a line.
