Historical gold pectoral diptych icon of our lady of Kazan and St Alexander Nevsky .height 5cm.provenance:gift from Ekaterina Dolgoroukova to emperor Alexander 2.one side of an icon is inscribed in old Slavonic:I place my hope in you ,Mother of god,keep him under your shelter .Ekaterina(Katia)Dolgoroukova was a long term mistress of Tsar Alexander 2 of Russia .in July 1880,as his morganatic wife ,she was given the title of princess of Yurievskaya.she become a widow with the assassination of emperor Alexander 2 on 13 march 1881.
