Rainy morning hacks -
So important for the proper development of horse and rider for any discipline, so long as it embodies a relaxed nervous system, correct biomechanics and activation through the thoracic sling.

This! In a world (especially in the horse world), where perfection is often what is being sought after, it’s hard to want to try new ways for fear of struggling, or worse, feeling failure.
Learning happens when changes need to be made, and change can absolutely be uncomfortable. Learning how to do something new takes time and often times feels quite messy. Learning how to be good at that something takes a lot of time, energy and patience to see through the mess and come out the other side.
Those that can stay motivated through failure, often times reach great success at things they didn’t even know were possible.
Keep trying, keep learning, because you never know what amazing journey you’re headed on.

Bioscans are back up and running since returning from our training trip in Aiken, SC! 👏👏
No idea what a bioscan is? No sweat, a lot of people don’t…
A bioscan is an FDA class 2 medical device combining acupuncture, biofeedback and homeopathy. This computerized test analyzes the balance of the internal systems on a cellular level (MUCH more sensitive than blood tests), by recording the reaction of the body against tens of thousands of stressors they encounter on a daily basis. These stressors include but are not limited to diet, allergens, viruses, environmental factors, anatomical structures and even pain locations. With the feedback from the bioscan, we can create a suggested protocol to bring the body back into balance, thus helping your equine partner feel their best.
Obviously I am not a vet, I cannot diagnosis or give medical advice. However what I do provide is a rather extensive list of what the body scans as in and not in balance.
Want more information on how this device can help you and your horse? Either check out my site at katecolemanequestrian.com or drop me an email at [email protected]
Jump judging the day away. ☀️
If you’re in Aiken and looking for a great schooling show, check out Sporting Days Farm new series. You’ll be able to find details about the next one on StriderPro.com.

Early morning session working towards my Lazaris Nerve Release certification.

🔻
Tuesday vibes ☀️
50 sessions over 94 days, twenty or so minutes per session for this transformation. No riding, just a couple of simple walking exercises to relax the horse’s nervous system, unwind tension and compensatory patterns, and develop correct muscles to start this TB mare on her sporthorse journey with a rider.
She is just one of dozens I have put my hands on and she is one of thousands and thousands of horses to benefit from the Balance Through Movement Method program.
Who can it help?
Horses of any age and breed? Absolutely.
Horses of any discipline? No problem.
Rehabbing from EPM, kissing spine, injuries, decreased performance, birth trauma? They thrive in this program and get a second chance.
Development for young horses? The best start for both mind and body.
Development takes time, patience and attention to detail. There is no bandaid. There is no quick fix. There typically isn’t longevity to the horse’s sporthorse career as under development leads to imbalanced loading of limbs, incorrect biomechanics, compensatory patterns, tension and pain.

Why BTMM?
Balance Through Movement Method (Pillar One: Relationship to Contact and Connection; Pillar Two: Centre of Balance; Pillar 3: Spinal Integrity) has become an integral element of our program because (in my words!!)-
* cultivates balanced and harmonious partnership between horse and human
* Provides education on horse and rider anatomy + biomechanics
* Offers global community support through its members- veterinarians, trainers, farriers, bodyworkers and amateur owners alike!
* Addresses both horse and human wellness through discussion on breath work, mindset, emotional/nervous system regulation + co-regulation, body + mind connection
For our equine partners, the 3 Pillars-
* Promotes long term physical and emotional soundness through emphasis of animal husbandry
* promotes increased circulation
* Addresses nerve impingement/compression
* Cultivates safe space with the human to activate parasympathetic nervous system
* Activates and “trains” correct ridden horse musculature for long term soundness
* Aids in zeroing in on undiagnosed lameness
* Allows access to deeper breath
* Clears energetic blockages
* Releases tension + restriction from unhealthy muscle function
* Helps to restore spinal alignment
* Considers all areas of the horse’s circle of influence
Our deepest gratitude to Celeste for having the courage, tenacity, wisdom and grace to share her work with the world. Missing piece indeed 😘😘😘

Whew, it’s been a busy month, with a clinic, cross country schooling outings and the Bath Mini Trial. 🙌
The Katherine Lowery clinic focusing on the Balance Through Movement Method as well as proper horse and rider biomechanics and classical dressage was amazing. I’ve been working with Katherine for over a year now, and she’s a God send to both horses and humans! 🙏 We can’t wait to have her back in town November 17-19. Feel free to reach out if you would like a spot.
Some of the girls headed to the Bath Pony Club mini trial and had a great time! There is no better pony club around, especially one that helps the community like this one does. We love and appreciate all who are involved. Hard to believe the fall season is right around the corner!

✨THREE✨more sleeps until Katherine Lowery is here for the weekend, focusing on the Balance Through Movement Method, horse and rider biomechanics, and so much more! 👏👏

Sometimes the biggest struggles bring the most life changing events. What feels like many steps backwards, endless questions, lots of tears and sleepless nights, heart ache and heart break, sometimes bring you answers you always wanted but never thought you’d get, sometimes it feels like it’s at a huge cost. And yet sometimes, these struggles lead you to the light again..
One very special red horse whose connection with me was so strong before even meeting in person, had bigger plans than I could have ever imagined. He was so kind, tried so hard, he was perfect day in and day out, and I had huge plans for us. Unfortunately after so much good, came so much decline. My gut knew he wasn’t just “acting out”.. we tried countless remedies, tests, exams, programs and rehabs. I was out of options and completely defeated until an amazing woman put me in contact with another amazing woman who said she could help. Through her Balance Through Movement Method, he began to heal, grow stronger and healthier, and traveled down a road towards recovery. I saw the light again, and his improvements forever changed how I looked at all of my horses from then on.
A year and a half later in June 2023, I finally got to meet these incredible women in person. The Elements of Connection Clinic in California was life changing. All five of these women are beautiful role models of horse advocates, proper development, emotional balance of horse and human, and so much more. They took each one of us participants further down a road of self reflection, discovery and grounding, which continues to pour out into our connections with our horses and each other. Each clinician was so unique and passionate in their line of expertise. I feel so blessed to have been able to learn from them, and be able to take the experience home to utilize in my own training.
Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
Life is a journey, bringing lessons with the passing years, and some
of mine seem to be getting louder with age. I believe we should be the biggest advocates for our equine partners, we should ask more questions, we should find better ways we can help them, we should listen to them. They are talking after all, and they keep showing up for us day after day. We need to show up for them just as much, if not more.
I’ve learned lately doing things differently than industry standards is scary, frowned upon, and often made fun of or sold as you’re not good enough. It can be tough to be different. But, when you wholeheartedly believe in something and the path that you’re on, you should fight your way through it and continue the journey ahead. Those in your circle will be supporting and cheering you on, all the way through.
Unfortunately my story with my sweet red horse was cut much too short. He came to do what he was intended to do… lead me to the start of an incredible journey, changing the way I forever look at and work with horses, and he brought me to an amazing tribe of women. So many things I’ll forever be grateful for beyond words. So, be brave and dare to be different, especially if it helps the horses. 💙
