Pontypridd Boxing Club

Pontypridd boxing club's Scott Richards who followed older brother Sion to the club at just 10 years of age where coaches Grant Briggs and Mike Nicholas soon noticed his commitment and enthusiasm. Guided by the coaches Scott progressed successfully through the club show format and became not only Welsh schoolboy champion but also winning the British title. As he grew older he moved through the age groups and was selected to join the Welsh elite squad. However he has now been selected to join the Great Britain elite squad based in Sheffield where he will live and train under the GB coaches. Another great achievement by not only Scott, but the coaches and the club. Well done all.

Pontypridd ABC Scott Richards wins 2nd elite title. 19 years old Scott won the Welsh senior flyweight title in Cardiff on Fri 28th April. This is Scott's second elite success. He next travels to Spain before moving on to the British championships. Well done Scott.

Pontypridd Boxing Club's Scott Richards won both his bouts at Bantamweight in the recent international competition Wales V Ireland held at Sophire Gardens Cardiff. Scott who has now been selected to train full time within the WABA elite Welsh boxers programme is starting to reap the benefits of full time training.
Well done Scott.

At the start of this the 2022/23 season the club has a small number of places still open. Due to our limited space the club can only accept those that actually want to compete. The minimum age for members is 10 years, and those applying will need to commit to 3 evenings a week, Mon, Wed, and Thurs. For those interested reply here and you will be given the location and timings. Those that know where the club is
can call to the club on a training night and ask for Grant Briggs where costs and expectancy's will be explained.

Former Pontypridd boxer and schoolboy champion Ritchie Thomas sadly passed away unexpectedly in his home town of Porthcawl on Mon 16th May. All at the the club send their sincere condolences to family and friends.

Pontypridd Boxing Club's Scott Richards, a former British junior champion has successfully progressed to the senior ranks. Scott won the 54k class by a unanimous decision on Friday the 22nd April at the Welsh senior boxing championships held at Sophia Gardens Cardiff. Well done Scott.
