Vintage Whimsy
Hand-crafted, vintage-inspired jewelry and other accessories crafted from new and repurposed objects.
Hello everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that saw my post about the arts festival this weekend at Red, White and Blues that I will be there Saturday only. I was planning on both days, but had to shorten it to just Saturday. I hope to see you there!
Sorry its been so long since I have posted on here or added anything new. Covid effectively ended all local craft shows and arts festivals so I have had no outlets. But hopefully things will be up and running again soon and I will post as soon as I know where I will be selling next!
Beauty in the Broken
Seven years ago, I sat on my living room floor with a small pendant, some jewelry chain, tiny pliers and a head full of ideas. That’s how Vintage Whimsy was born. I remembered as a child going to arts festivals with my mother and looking longingly at all the beautiful, sparkly jewelry and wishing I could buy something. But we didn’t have a lot of money and were just there to look. Fast-forward a couple of decades... I began to think about those times one day and, as someone with a strong creative bent, I decided it couldn’t be that hard to make some beautiful jewelry of my own. Things started very simply. A pendant that I found and liked and a measure of chain and voila! I had a necklace. I was thrilled. In the intervening years, I have added some complexity to what I create. Old, broken, neglected, overlooked items often find their way into my jewelry now. I see much beauty and potential in old watch parts, bits off an old chandelier, even gears from the inside of an old fishing reel! So many things can be repurposed and given a new life as a necklace or pair of earrings. I love vintage jewelry and clothing, so much of my work has that sort of flavor to it as well, but I try and provide a variety so there is something for everyone. So by all means, have a look around!
