“The Christmas Song” recorded live on reel to reel tape
A few years back, I recorded “The Christmas Song” (originally made popular by Nat King Cole) for my first holiday EP ‘Season for You.’ My producer, Swaff, had the idea to record it live in one-take with his reel to reel tape machine (JVC RD-1450). We recorded it at his church on a Steinway grand piano. Here’s a video that he took with his phone, showing the recording gear/process and final performance. Enjoy!

What a great way to end this Christmas tour! Thank you, Greenville…and a special thank you to everyone who came out to a show over the past week. It was great to see so many friends and family. It warmed my heart to share music, stories and laughter with you. Merry Christmas everybody!! 🎄

Tonight I found a Christmas tree that fully captures the spirit of my version of “Joy to the World” at the Hyatt! Complete with safari animals—lion, elephant and giraffe. So we had a spontaneous dance party in front of it. Fun times! 😂😂
Santa hears “Joy to the World”
We sent an early copy of “Joy to the World” to Santa, and he sent back this video!! He’s confident that it’s going to give the Spirit Clausometer a proper boost to get his sleigh flying extra fast this year. Side note: since it was so early in the holiday season, Santa didn’t have time to dye his beard white. (My kids were confused as well 😂😂) My new Christmas EP—The Newborn King—drops in 6 days!!
