We agree! As a longtime business in Redding -
City Council candidates what will you be actually outlining that specifically addresses this issue??!!!
I've received multiple mailers this week from local City Council candidates who claimed to have made "our streets safer" in their term. I couldn't help but think... "Really? I wonder if these candidates have spent any time on Yuba Street in the last 7 months?" Because I have. And many of you have as well. Yuba Street is off the hook. It has become less safe, more unnerving, the population of homeless/drug addicts/the like has grown, and it is increasingly unsettling to visit this area of downtown, let alone walk around with children, even during the day. People tell me, on the daily, that they are afraid to go to the Post Office. Afraid to park on Yuba St. and walk to my business, Carousel. Several of my customers in the last 3 months have told me about seeing people shooting up and walking around naked on their way into my store (and I have seen this, on the regular, over the last handful of years. Honestly, I think this is unacceptable. Absolutely unacceptable. I have not figured out, for the life of me, why Yuba Street is the chosen street for this kind of behavior/activity, but in my 4.5 years at Carousel, and for the three years before my taking ownership of the store- this street has been a transient and crime magnet. Nothing has changed. It has slightly shifted locations (from the park), but has definitely not changed.
Now, I understand that our terrible state laws defining what constitute a crime, along with the "prison reform" strategy taking place over the last handful of years (remember AB109?) have both had a negative impact on the state and therefore, our county- making it seemingly impossible for our PD to do anything more but move people along. I think RPD is an exceptional group of people, doing their best, and I wouldn't have a business on Yuba Street today, if it wasn't for them.
ALL this to say: as I choose who to vote for next month for our local City Council, this is my question to all running:
Which one of you has a real plan to address these downtown (specifically Yuba Street) issues? Which one of you has spent real time on Yuba Street & the neighboring streets - and seen first hand what we have allowed this area to become? And, with all the development happening downtown right now, what are your thoughts - and what is your plan - to ensure our lovely new downtown core isn't immediately taken over by this crowd of thugs who do as they please and make the tax paying citizens feel incredibly uncomfortable to even get out of their vehicles in this area? Stating that you will 'make our streets safer' is simply not enough, and too vague a statement to get behind. We need a real, tangible solution - followed up by action.

We’re reopening our doors TODAY, Tuesday, May 19, and can’t wait to have all of you back in to dine and drink with us!
We are opening slowly under guidelines from the county and state to ensure everything is done with everyone’s health and safety in mind. So, please bear with us as we restock the restaurant and bring back our employees.

To All Our Loyal & Beloved Clients 💕
As the spread of the COVID-19 virus continues, many events have been canceled & possibly businesses/schools to follow. We want to first & foremost thank all of our clients that are like close family for the continued love & support. Our small businesses are not possible without you.
We ask that during this time you also take extra precautions - when entering the salon please feel free to use our restroom to wash your hands before you sit down for your appointment. Know that each cosmetologist, nail tech & esthetician are doing the same before & after each appointment, as well as wiping down work areas.
For the well being of our other clients & fellow workers, we kindly ask for you to reach out to your service provider to reschedule your appointment if necessary for health reasons. If you are symptomatic or have a fever do not take this lightly. The health of everyone during this time is our top priority.
As always, we take pride in providing you with the most sanitary, clean environment for all of your hair, skin & nail services here in the Northstate. We are licensed trained professionals that take your safety & ours very seriously. State Board standards, guidelines & county regulations are always strictly adhered to in our facility.

NEW! Light up your life with some LED therapy ✨
What’s this all about?
The Celluma LED light source is FDA cleared to help wrinkles, acne and pain. LED provides compromised cells with light energy to improve cellular health by accelerating the repair and replenishment of compromised tissue cells.
Research has shown that phototherapy can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, kill acne bacteria, decrease inflammation, improve skin tone, texture and clarity, as well as ease muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasm, and arthritis.
For example, fibroblast cells will increase collagen and elastic production in connective tissue. Which means you get to look younger!
This treatment can be a stand alone sessions, or added on to any Lash Fill or Facial 💕
Message here or call/text 530.356.6318 to book your LED Therapy!
