Our NYBA tournament is fast approaching - February 10th and 11th!

We are still in need of refs and volunteers for both days as well as individually wrapped baked goods to sell at our concession. Volunteers will also be needed to set up on Friday after the game.

We will have a meeting at 5:15 in the cafeteria on Wednesday,January 24th to talk about the tournament. We need those that are interested in volunteering to attend the meeting to discuss plans and how many other volunteers we need. We need refs, concession, admission, running the clock, scorekeepers and general help!!

Our Newberry tournament is coming up February 10th and 11th. We will need several volunteers to run it smoothly. Help is needed to set up and clean up, run concession and admission, running the clock, keeping score and general help to keep the tournament running. This is a major fundraiser for our program and volunteer help is critical to its success.
We would like to schedule a planning meeting in the near future. Please comment below if you can help in any way and you will be invited to the meeting.

I don't want to jinx tonight but just wanted to let you know the sportsmanship of the fans, coaches, and players was fantastic on Saturday!
6 different school districts are represented in the finals tonight. Should be fun:)

4th grade - 5 PM

6th grade - 7 PM
The only entrance that will be open is the athletic entrance located on the west side of the school.

Our first game of the season is tonight at the high school gym. 5th and 6th grade boys will be playing Engadine with the 1st game at 5:30pm 🏀 Come out and support our young athletes!

NYBA will have a table set up at parent/teacher conferences tomorrow from 12-3 to register and/or pay your fee! I'll have forms :)

We will contact you all about a coaches meeting this coming week to set practice schedules. With no access to the elementary gym, we will need to juggle gym time around a bit.

Basketball season is just around the corner!
We need to line up coaches for this year. Please PM me or comment here if you are available and interested in coaching. This program needs support to continue. It is the building block for teaching fundamentals and is so important in the development of our basketball players!

🏀Our Newberry Youth Basketball Tournament is coming up on February 11th and 12th. Our Newberry Youth Basketball Association (NYBA) is an amazing opportunity for our community youth to learn the value of being a part of a team and learning to love the game of basketball! This tournament is our main fundraiser for our youth basketball program but it takes a lot of work to put on a tournament. We are asking anyone who is interested in volunteering to please consider helping with concession, taking admissions and score table workers. We are also in need of people to ref the youth games- we pay $10/ game for students and $15/game for adults who want to ref. Does anyone have an extra black uniform?

Coaches and parents:
Effective immediately the only people who are allowed in the community building gym during practice are the players, coaches and parents (assuming the coach allows parents to stay during practice). Anyone else must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We are having continued issues with trespassing/kids using the gym as a hang out. We can't lose access to this valuable gym space for practice and tournaments. If you have a key, please do not lend it out or duplicate it. Thank you for your cooperation.

We are lucky to have the community building gym to practice and have games. But there is no janitor and it desperately needs a cleaning! Today, Monday- at 4pm I'm hoping to get a group of kids, parents & coaches together to clean it up. The rugs need to be vacuumed, bleachers cleaned up, fridge cleaned out, garbages taken out etc. Please spread the word and we'll see you at 4pm today. If we get a group it should only take a little while!

Boys have their first game of the season this Saturday at 10am in the high-school gym against Brimely. We are looking for volunteers to take admissions and run the clock. Please let me know if anyone is interested!!

4th grade boys- Colleen Duflo will fill in as a coach until we find a permanent one. I am sorry for the late notice, but we will practice in the elementary gym this Thursday and Friday from 5 to 6. Our first game is this Saturday at home at 10:00 against Brimley. She will create a separate page and send you all invites to communicate.

Sign up for all kids looking to play 3rd-6th grade, Boys and Girls Basketball. Registration forms should be going to teachers tomorrow or we will have them at the meeting for you to sign up then.
