Nesting season is HERE! Florida is home to the majority of the United States' sea turtle nests! Now through October, help us protect our nesting turtles and their hatchlings by doing the following:

⚠️ Keep a safe and respectful distance of turtles, nests, and hatchlings, of at least 50 feet

🏖️ Keep the beach flat! Fill in holes and knock down sand castles to help turtles find their way back to the water

🔦 Avoid using white light on the beach, and instead opt for a red light flashlight. You can pick one up for free at the Visit Destin-Fort Walton Beach Visitor's Center!

🚮 Pick up trash and avoid single-use plastics

As always, if you see an injured or stranded sea turtle, call the Gulfarium C.A.R.E. Center stranding hotline at 850-243-9046 x34, or the FWC at 1-888-404-3922.

Stasher bags are on sale with a 10% off coupon on Amazon right now! Yay!

One stasher bag saves 260 single-use plastic bags from entering the oceans each year. You can put them in the dishwasher, microwave, and even the oven! And the best part, is they save you money! 🤑

I've used these silicone bags for years and now for my daughter's lunches and snacks. They come in various sizes and colors. Perfect for kids that eat in color like my spicy toddler! haha

10/10 recommend!
I posted a link to them below!

Those unreal days! 🥹

Jen's husband was able to capture this picture at the top of the landfill last week. Let's talk about food waste...
When we toured the landfill recently, we were told food waste was in the top 3 of disposed stuff. We aren't talking about household food waste although that's a great way to start small. We are talking grocery store waste, restaurant waste, supplier waste, etc. This entire truck emptied all of its contents at the dump. We know it's alcohol and not "food" but the principal is the same. All expired "sell by" dates. Are retailers rotating stock to prevent this? Is the supply and demand off? What can be done? We had our Starbucks beach clean up this morning at Beasley Park!
-17 volunteers
-25 lbs of litter
-5 lbs of recyclables

Lots of shoes, straws, plastic items and cans today. We also found some beach toys that we left in the borrow bin! Some volunteers even found some organic material- bones and scales!

We all loved the coffee and goody bags with recycled reusable cups provided by Starbucks! 🫶♻️☕️

Thank you to everyone who came out to join us! Keep an eye out for future clean ups! Together we will make a difference! 🌊💙🌎

'Twas the night before Nesting Season, when all through the beaches
Not a creature was stirring, not even a ghost crab;
The Turtle Patrol backpacks were hung by the door with care,
In hopes that sea turtles soon would be nesting there;
The Turtle Patrol Volunteers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of hatchlings danced in their heads...

Sea Turtle Nesting Season starts tomorrow!

Sending best wishes for a safe and successful season to the thousands of folks out there taking care of our mommas and babies!

Tell your friends and neighbors that our sea turtles dig the beach clean, flat, and dark!

Sea turtle nesting season is upon us! Respect the beach and keep it clean, dark, and flat (fill in your holes) so they may have a safe and peaceful place to lay their eggs! 🐢🌊❤️

Nesting season is here! May 1st is the official first day of sea turtle nesting. Nesting season runs from May 1st to October 31st. Now more than ever it is important to keep our beach clean, dark, and flat to ensure our sea turtles have a safe place to lay their eggs.
