BSU Nursing Scholarship: A Husband's Loving Tribute to Our Classmate, Maria Renollet Johanneson.

In Bemidji State University’s nursing program, Maria (Renollet) Johanneson learned many important skills. And, in the enamored eyes of her husband, she possessed qualities that won him over faster than his heart could skip a beat.

Yet after 14 years of marriage, Maria died in July 2023 at the age of 53. Her unexpected passing left a hole in Keith’s heart and left him to pick up the pieces. It’s something he’s still actively learning how to do. But as he navigates the emotional unknown, he’s learned to not succumb to it.

He wants Maria’s legacy to live on, and now, that means supporting nursing students just like her. Keith has pledged a $1 million gift in Maria’s honor to endow nursing scholarships at BSU.

“I really don’t want to take any credit for the gift. I want her name on everything,” Keith said. “It’s a lovely gift, and I’m happy to do it. … She’d be proud.”

Loral Lee was an incredibly kind woman. As I write to Teri, many of us have lots of great memories. Spending the night with Teri at the Everett’s growing up was LOADS of fun.

FHS Alumni Newsletter #97 - October 2023

Susan G. Komen 60-mile walk for breast cancer in Boston. Brenda Ysen Buck, Dawn Olson Gehlert, and Tina Ham Peterson finished day 1. This event has raised almost $9 million for the cause. We walk in honor of many, including classmates Rebecca Pound Gaden and Rachel Amdahl. Comment if there.are others to add.

Attendees of the 35th Class reunion donated great raffle prizes, including handmade pottery, greeting cards, spirit wear, House of Joy gift basket, and a Boondocks gift basket. We sold raffle tickets for $5 and raised $1,000 to donate to the Falls Educational Foundation! Thank you to all who participated and helped make a difference for future FHS alumni.
