Many years ago when lighthouses were automated it made lighthouse keepers and Lighhouse's obsolete. Instead of tearing down these beautiful and historical landmarks the Coast Guard either sold or donated these landmarks over to non profit organizations that were willing to maintain them and teach the history of that lighthouse. The way most of these lighthouses generate funding to maintain the lighthouse is through fees to tour the lighthouse, operate the keepers quarters as vacation rentals, gift store sales and fund raising. I encourage you to visit lighthouses and support their efforts to keep these landmarks open to the public. to learn more about lighthouses across the country and world, visit "United States Lighthouse Society" website at uslhs.org. Here you can locate lighthouse locations, learn more about lighthouses, get details on renting keepers quarters, sign up for organized lighthouse trips worldwide and more. For those who don't know I do volunteer photography for this worthwhile organization. The photos I take of these lighthouses I provide to the United State Lighthouse Society (Which is located in the Northern tip of Kitsap county WA. at Point No Point Lighthouse) and give them full rights to do what ever they want to promote these lighthouses and their history. I have selected five lighthouse photographs that I have taken and am going to make them available in two different mediums, metal and framed canvas. They will be available in 16 x 20 size or 24 x 36. I have done each design in full frame layout and the painted effect . I recommend the painted effect for the framed canvas and the full frame for metal. 100% of the profits will be given to the respective lighthouse photo sold. Price of the 16 x 20 metal and framed canvas is $125 and 24 x 36 metal and framed canvas will be $225. Prices include tax and shipping to your front door within the lower U.S. 48. Email me at [email protected] to place and order or ask questions. Sorry, no credit cards accepted. Below are the lighthouse photos I've selected to offer and where they are located.

For those who follow our adventures Patty and I had the opportunity to be interpretive host at the historical North Head Lighthouse for the month of May. This lighthouse was constructed in 1898 and is one of two lighthouses in Cape Disappointment state park in Washington state. Both lighthouses help mariners navigate into the mouth of the Columbia river safely. Can’t believe a month has already come and gone. We have had visitors from all around the world. Over 1000 visitors toured the lighthouse and received our presentation up in the lantern room (top). We are exhausted and ready to go home and put our feet up. Was a great experience that we will always treasure.

Here in the Arizona desert if we get enough rain during the winter months we have beautiful super blooms of wildflowers. Some of the most common flowers to appear are the poppies and Lupine. This is a creation I made this morning using a photograph of both of these flowers. Enjoy!

This is a follow up to a post I made last week. A customer that purchased a 24 x 36 framed canvas requested that I make two smaller prints to go with the larger print. She picked out two photographs of Bryce Canyon that I worked with to create what she wanted. She was kind enough yesterday to send me photos of the finished product hanging in her home. I appreciate getting to see how my work is being displayed in homes, offices and business setting. Thank you so much!

A customer purchased a 24 x 36 framed canvas I did of the Grand Canyon at sunset. I created this one in the painted (layered look). She liked the artwork so much she called up and asked me to do two smaller prints to go on either end of the one she bought at the expo. The two smaller prints 24 x 24" are from Bryce Canyon. Please remember that if you have a special request to let me know and we will work on it together to get what you want. This can include using one of your photos you have taken as well. Maybe it is a photo of the kids or grandkids or your pet. I've even done pet memorial prints with loving statements. Enjoy!

We get spectacular sunsets here in Arizona and we often will take our evening walks with the dog so that we can enjoy these sunsets. Just a block from our home is state land covered in Saguaro Cactus and many other desert plants and critters. I took this sunset last year and recently played with it to create some items for our last art expo. Using the same photo I created both a vertical framed canvas and metal artwork. I then took a part of that same photo and created a 24 x 36 vertical framed canvas that fits the common art niche that most homes in our community have.

Patty asked me to apply the painted effect to the Aspen Grove photo she took several years ago. This photo was taken at Black Butte Ranch just NW of Sisters OR. We try to travel through this area every fall on our migration South to AZ. Love to take photos of all the fall colors. The upper photo we have done in metal and it is stunning! 24 x 36 metal print is $208 and a 24 x 36 Framed Canvas is $198. Prices include tax and shipping within the lower 48. My suggestion for best results is upper photo for metal and lower for the painted canvas look. Enjoy! I just added to this post a vertical Aspen Tree Photos taken in the high country of Arizona. [email protected] for any questions.

Update: These arrived today and look great! I created these three so that they would go together and fill a large area such as above a bed, over a sofa or large wall area. Shown here just sitting on a headboard and spaced 2 inches apart these three 20 x 20 photos take up a space 64 inches in length. Will now be working on greeting cards using the same photos. Of course they would look great as a stand alone photo as well. Just wanted to create something that would work together for a large open wall. All three photos where taken at Salt Creek Campground over the years. This is the same campground we spent last week camping and exploring.
