Shante Lomprey Art
I paint landscapes, rocks, and climbing topos. I offer prints and original paintings.
A snap of last weekend at the Lander International Climbing Fest. I was chatting with this lovely woman who just bought a print of my Fitz Roy painting. Everyone was such a delight to meet! I truly loved talking to younger preteens about how to start drawing and painting, to the people on the road of how to easily paint while out, and to the older folks who have been climbing for decades and knew almost every route. It truly brought so much joy to meet you all and I still cannot believe people love what I create so much. Thank you thank you. ❤️❤️
Art Crawl, downtown Lander for the international climber’s festival! It was hot, it was fun and a total success! Emerson told people walking by “the tiny ones are free!” (talking about my business cards). 😂
New: Rainbow Wall, The Original Route (Free version)
16x20”
A big shout out to who helped me update my topo drawing of the older aid route from the 1980’s to the current free version. My father in law climbed the original route via aid in the 1980’s which is why I originally drew that topo. Aiding on the Red Rock sandstone is now looked down upon as it corrodes the rock too easily, so it was about time to complete a modern-version free route. Both versions tell a story of how one climbing route can transition greatly through decades.
* I also redid the sky to brighter cirrus clouds for some better sending temps than the dark and ominous sky.
Two sizes are available in my shop, 16x20” and 24x30”

Also, thank you to for the opportunity to put these lines on paper. She met her husband while climbing on these routes. ❤️
Old Man of Hoy, a 5 pitch tower in the northern Scottish Orkney Isles. The black and white version is an illustration I created for Leo Houlding’s book “Closer to the Edge.” I’ve been going through some of these illustrations and adding paint to them, the effect is huge! It looks so different.
The topos I created for Climbing Mag are now posted on my site for prints and the originals are available for purchase as well. These six got added today! Check them out!
The first illustration shown is Wind in the Willows, a multi-pitch on Mt. Katahdin in Maine. It is one topo I hadn’t posted online yet because it wasn’t printed in an issue and was in an online article for the magazine instead.

Three more topos for Closer To the Edge by Leo Houlding. First is Ulvetanna in Antarctica, second is Mount Asgard in Baffin, third is Mirror Wall in Greenland.
One of six illustrations in the autobiography I illustrated for titled “Closer to the Edge: Climbing to the Ends of the Earth”
Mt. Everest, in black and white. All illustrations are in black and white for publishing, but I will release versions with color with time.
The book is finally out today! I cannot wait to get our copy and read it.
Mokule’ia in Waialua
16x22” gouache on paper
This north shore coast of Oah’u shoreline stretches to Ka’ena Point with Mount Ka’ala in the distance, partly clouded by the classic low-lying clouds of Hawai’i.
I painted this for one of my closest friends who got married here and is giving it as an anniversary gift to her husband. Thanks to her I had a reason to get my paints out this year despite having two wild tiny boys running around me 24/7. It’s hard to carve out time to paint alone with a 1.5 and a 4 year old, which is also why this painting took 8 months to complete. But I can finally say Fini! And send it her way across the ocean.
