Engedeko School

Engedeko School

Enkedego (pre)primary school was built in 2008 and currently hosts 270 children in the age of 4 till 12 years.

The school was built to offer education in the most remote area of Tanzania. The school is financed by its neighboring company Korfovouni SeedPro (100% daughter company of Schoneveld Breeding, the Netherlands) and generous donations by the family Schoneveld. The school provides education to children living on the slopes of Mt Meru on short distance from their homes. This allows them to combine daily duties around the house or farm and learning the basics of writing and counting.

Tonight I received a wonderful cheque for Engedeko school Tanzania from the Rotaryclub Voorst chairman of the 'Walking for Water' committee. The children (and parents) of the Cbs De Wingerd Twello; Daniel de brouwerschool; De Kopermolen and De Kleine Wereld did a great job and literally walked to raise money for a new water system for our school! How beautiful is that!

With this great contribution we can purchase various collection tanks and pipework so that the children always have drinking water at school but can also wash their hands before they have lunch.

We will keep you posted via our page on the progress of this project!

The last 3 days we have had great support from the Brute Terwoldse Bikers at our school! Classroom #1,2 and 3 are painted again and the school has now a beautiful logo on the wall. Also the Cycling team has raised enough money to finish classroom #7 en #8 and built an extra baby class for the youngest!

It is great to see that what started by Schoneveld Breeding as a small initiative - educating employees’ children- has now grown into a mature school hosting 475 children supported by as many children from schools in the local community of the company. With this money raised we can rebuild our water system and have a more efficient usage and at the same time improve hygiene at the Engedeko School. Thank you so much Rotaryclub Voorst and all children from Cbs De Wingerd Twello, De Kleine Wereld,, Daniel de brouwerschool and the De Kopermolen for ‘walking for water’ and raising money for our school! Asante sana!

Today we had to say goodbye to our volunteer teachers Tom Korderijnk and Iris Poelakker. What a wonderful contribution they have made! With his musical background and her medical knowledge, attention could also be paid to other matters in addition to teaching. It has enriched the children enormously and the teachers themselves also go home with a ‘mountain’ of experience 😅💪🏻
Asante sana Tom and Iris!

Engedeko school recently received some very nice donations, allowing us to finally realize the long-cherished expansion of classrooms and toilets. We are very grateful to our donors because they allow us to provide the necessary lessons to even more children. Hygiene has also improved considerably with the new toilets. We would like to thank the sponsors who made this construction possible!
However, we hope for more support to provide all 475 children with good housing and to recruit additional teachers. We also have plans to convert the 'cooking hut' into a small kitchen with a canteen so that the children can eat at school at lunchtime. Your help is still desperately needed for all these necessary investments.

From January this year we have started our voluntary teacher program. Because of shortage in the nearby area we are so glad with any teacher giving the children the compulsory lessons but also giving them the enjoyment of music and making fun together!

Although the school was closed due to holiday leave we have worked (made inventarisation) on the water system going to the school. In the new year we hope to start installing a reliable new water supply and storage for the school. This is very necessary in order for the kids to wash their hands and maintain hygiene in the (new) kitchen.

Engedeko school wants, on behalf of all the children, to thank the sponsors for their generous gifts and wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! MercyRehema Raphael Kulley

The very first ‘classroom’ is turned into a small kitchen from where porridge is prepared and served to the kids. Needless to say is that the next investment -after a new lavatory block, an extra classroom and watertank- should be a kitchen with cantine! Step by step we will make Engedeko school ‘best of class’ 🌸👍🏻

Today I received the biggest cheque ever for the Enkedego School Tanzania. This money was raised by Rotaryclub Voorst while walking The Pieterpad.

Many generous donations where done by individuals and (employees of) companies which I would like to thank them all on behalf of the childeren of Enkedego, Losinoni and Oldonyowas!!!

With this money we can built extra lavatories, finish classroom #4 and putting the necessary piping and waterstorage in place! This money is so welcome!

But please keep donating because as we talk, the school has expanded (again) and we host currently 450 children. As school committee we are considering to built a secondary school besides the primary. So new donations remain welcome 🙏!

Some observant donors drew our attention to an expired QR code. But of course these are and remain very welcome! Thank you everyone who has already donated!

Tuesday we were invited by Korfovouni SeedPro company for a guided school tour. Following hygiene protocols, how can you ‘make’ climate, how does biological treatment works (and how sticky is a yellow dudu trap 😄) and how do they separate plants and plastic for a better environment?! We have seen it all and the kids loved it! After the tour we enjoyed lunch and said goodbye! Thank you Esther, Mwalimu Rehema and Maaike for organising.

This week we had an excursion to the nearby located company Korfovouni SeedPro. The kids were so excited and enjoying at the same time. We finished this school trip with a lovely lunch and sport & game 😃. Thank you Rehema and Maaike for organising👍🏻

Another 35 children started at Enkedego School from February 2023 bringing total at about 450 children!
This is such good news but also puts more pressure on realizing and finishing an extra classroom, lavatory blocks, canteen with small kitchen, water connection including tank....and so much more.

What has started with 1 classroom and 25 children -helping the children of our employees at Korfovouni SeedPro to go to school nearby- has now grown to Enkedego - primary school Tanzania with 6 classes and 415 children! Unfortunately we cannot host them the way we would like to 😟. We urgently need to finish one more classroom, a teachers house, some extra lavatories and waterstorage for cooking. So donations or any other support is welcome (scan QR) 😊👍🏻

Enkedego Primary school groeit snel.

Today classroom #5 and #6 are officially opened! This is so good news for all the kids! (now already >160 children have found the Enkedego Primary school) 👍🏻.
This also means we can start official registration and find more teachers!

Today I had the pleasure to visit our Enkedego school again after a long period of abscence due to corona. With over 140 children hosted, the construction of a third and fourth class room was more than welcome! The coming months more fund raising will be done to start building a small kitchen and getting the necessary water supply at site.
