Lurid Music
Ten thousand worlds for the choosing. Whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent.
Now available at https://luridmusic.bandcamp.com: Anatolian Weapons' "May That War Be Cursed" charity remix project to support displaced Ukrainians. Four volumes of remixes along with a screen printed t-shirt.
Aggelos first approached me with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.
We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.
Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:
- International Medical Corps: https://internationalmedicalcorps.org/emergency-response/war-in-ukraine/
- Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights - Ukraine Urgent Response Fund: https://urgentactionfund.org
- Polish Humanitarian Action: https://www.pah.org.pl/en/donate/
- World Central Kitchen: https://wck.org/relief/activation-chefs-for-ukraine
Original tracks written and produced by Aggelos Baltas aka Anatolian Weapons.

We were fortunate to receive pro bono contributions from four highly-esteemed mastering engineers: Taylor Dupree (http://www.12kmastering.com), Brian Kage (http://kagemastering.squarespace.com), Dietrich Schoenemann (http://completemastering.com) and Tim Vitek (http://timvitekmastering.com). We are thankful for their meticulous work, especially to Dietrich for enlisting his fellow engineers to help with the massive remix load, 44 tracks are definitely too much for one person to listen to in such a short span.
The artwork was provided by Bill Brown, a Maryland native who lives and works in Ukraine. When the war started, he made his way safely to Germany via Poland. This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. T-shirt screen printing was kindly provided by Nolan, a grindcore bassist from Washington DC. You can follow him on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/malokul202/

Hun Hun’s debut LP “Y Bab Adöy” is out today on all streaming platforms. While most café playlists will be nodding to DJ soFa’s remix of “Princess Maria”, my personal favorite from their album is this tiny gem called “Centauri” which could easily be mistaken for a Depeche Mode b-side instrumental from the 1980s, one of those simple hooks Martin Gore would tickle the keys with during studio downtime I guess. 🖤
