Just a heads up to my customers. Seems like there’s been a bell line that has been cut in the area and Internet service and phones are down. It’s also affecting customers of Kudo and Telus. They are working on it, but we are not sure when they are going to be up and running properly. so please keep trying as I know some calls are getting through. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately, due to tonight‘s weather, and the roads being really bad, we have decided to make the decision to close for this evening. Sorry for the inconvenience but I need to keep my drivers safe.
I saw this happen on this particular evening. My partner and I seen a police car ahead of us and wondered what was going on. Next thing I know I have this pick up truck passing me at a high rate of speed. Both my partner and I say good luck buddy with a cop just ahead. Next thing we know the pick up truck turns it's lights on and they block the wrong way vehicle in.
We had gotten hung up on a call with a person who wanted to drive home with his young son in the car and wouldn't leave until we knew both were home safe. Had we just instead left and taken the 407 a little earlier then we could have been hit or even killed. Please don't drink and drive. Call DDKingz Durham Designated Drivers 905-914-6703
An Oshawa man is facing impaired driving charges after police managed to pull over a vehicle allegedly driving the wrong way on Highway 407 last weekend.
Durham police say its communications and 911 centre received “several” calls about a black Honda sedan travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 407 at Harmony Road in Oshawa just after 11 p.m. on Nov. 25.
One of the callers indicated the suspect vehicle was travelling at a “very high rate of speed,” estimating the driver was travelling between 160 km/h and 180 km/h, say police.
“I was very nearly hit by a car driving on the 407 east (and they’re) going west,” said the caller in a recording released by Durham police.
“Oh my God, he must have been going 160, 180,” replied the caller when asked by an Ontario Provincial Police dispatcher to guess the suspect vehicle’s speed.
When asked to describe the suspect vehicle, the caller replied that it was dark and all he could see was headlights coming at him.
“All I could see was this car driving at me, so I moved over into the right lane,” said the male caller. “It almost made me feel like I was going the wrong way, but I wasn’t going the wrong way. He was going the wrong way.”
Following the 911 call, several Durham police units, as well as the force’s RIDE team, were dispatched to the Highway 407 area around 11:15 p.m. and the suspect vehicle was located by a RIDE team member, say police.
The vehicle was pulled over without incident and the driver was arrested, say police.
“This incident could have had devastating consequences and underscores the importance of calling 911 when you suspect an impaired driver,” said police in a press release.
The Durham force also explained that the call was transferred to Ontario Provincial Police because the driver was on a 400-series highway.
“Due to the emergent nature of the incident, (Durham police) communicators stayed on the line and (Durham) officers were also dispatched,” explained police in the release.
A 44-year-old Oshawa man has been charged with impaired operation, fail/refuse demand, dangerous operation and driving wrong way — divided highway.
He was released on an undertaking, say police.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Const. Colin Campbell at 905-579-1520, ext. 2343.

DRPS wants to thank the partner agencies that attended our RIDE launch. You continue to help tackle impaired driving in the region, it’s not something we can do alone. Thank you Ontario Provincial Police, Durham Paramedics, Whitby Fire & Emergency Services, Durham Region Transit (DRT), MADD Durham Region and DRPS Traffic Services Unit.
Really disappointed in a bad review that I received tonight. Have been in business for over 10 years and have worked hard. As a rule of thumb we are so busy on the weekends that the rule is no food stops between the hours of 11 pm and 2 am. Customer got irate and refused to believe that I was the owner. Proceeded to bang on my car window when we dropped him off. Behaviour like this will not be tolerated and I replied to customer and told him that his business is no longer needed. My drivers do not need to be subjected to this type of behaviour.
Not going through a drive thru has nothing to do with my business.
Stupid phones.
Unfortunately we are having issues with business phone. We haven't been open tonight, Bell Canada is working on the situation at the moment. Sorry for the inconvenience.
For the last couple of years I have helped the owner of We Drive run her company. Sadly Donna passed away on April 2nd. I have taken over her Company phone number.. 905-922-8802. So you may also reach me on that. Hope I do you proud Donna. I look forward to meeting more of her customers.

I must apologize but due to the weather today we will not be opening to get you home. Many places haven't been plowed yet and I know the side streets won't be done until much later. For our safety we figured it would be best to stay home.
DDKINGZ would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year. The drivers and I thank you for everything despite these crazy times. As many of you know I lost my husband just a little over 8 months ago and we have all pulled together and kept everything going. Some of us have been on road pretty much every night of the week and others have been working 2 jobs. It's been hectic but we got through it. I want to thank everyone for your support both to my drivers and customers. You mean more to me than you realize.
On that note I need to take some time for myself as it's very much needed. Myself and my drivers are exhausted and we all need to Refresh, Recoup and Regroup.
We will all be taking some much needed time off.
We will be closed Sunday-Tuesday. We will re-open at 5pm on Wednesday January 5th.
Thank you all again so much. Love each and everyone of you.
We have teams out on the road tonight and from what I am hearing is the roads are pretty bad. Please be patient tonight as we do our best to come and pick you up. The drivers are doing the best that they can. It's much more busier this time of the year.

I know many of you don't know this but April 24th 2021, Wally who was part owner of DDKingz sadly passed away. My husband would want me to keep this business up and running as this was something we started together. With Covid and now this we are running on limited staff so I ask that you please all be patient. This is a transition and I promise to do the best that we can in honour of his memory. A friend set up a go fund me to help out. Don't feel the need to donate. Just knowing that I have your support means a lot to me. Rest Easy My Love. We will see each other again.

After careful consideration and the lack of calls we are amending our days of operation. With everything being closed it's hard for my drivers to find places to sit as they can wait hours between calls. or no calls at all. We feel that it is in ourselves and our drivers best interest that we only open from Thurs 5 pm-12 am and Friday and Saturday 5 pm-2 am depending on call volume. We are sorry for the inconvenience and will re-evaluate days if we see calls coming in. Also as of yesterday all our drivers have been vaccinated with the Covid Vaccine. Please stay safe during this time.
