Priscilla's Pick at the Movies

It's been a while since I've posted.Hope everyone is having a good summer. Ok, just gonna dive right in.HOLY MOLY! We just saw THE dopest movie I have seen in a very long time.Blue Beetle has everything you could possibly want in a movie and more.I laughed, I cheered, and I damn near cried.The plot is basically about a young man that comes into possession of a scarab that changes the course of not only his life, but the life of his tight knit family.
The best thing about this movie was the punctilious detail director Ángel Manuel Soto paid to the Mexican culture. When you see this movie, you will know exactly what I am talking about. George Lopez provides the comedic relief throughout the movie and doesn't disappoint.His love for "Taco" is hilarious!
Most of you know Xolo Maridueña from his role as Miguel on Cobra Kai, but Blue Beetle is gonna catapult this kid to another level.
This movie is a MUST see! It has it all and you won't be disappointed...and that my friends, is Priscilla's Pick at the Movies!

I have to admit, I was VERY skeptical when I heard there was going to be a sequel to Top Gun. I mean, how would it be possible to make another movie that holds a candle to such an iconic original ???? Not possible right????? WRONG!!! Man oh man, I was wrong!!!
The awesomeness starts as soon. as the lights dim and the film starts. Not only do we see brilliant cinematography, we get to hear songs clips by the one and only Kenny Loggins! You can't have a Top Gun without Danger Zone right???
Let's start with Maverick. It's kinda hard not to like the guy. As good as an aviator he is, the guy is troubled after losing his wingman Goose all those years ago. Fast forward to the present. He is called back to Top Gun by the volleyball spinning man himself, Iceman, played by Val Kilmer. They did his character right, that's all I can say without giving anything away.
Now, let's talk about the introduction of some of the young flyers. We have Phoenix, Payback,Fanboy, Omaha,Bob, Hangman and Rooster, who happens to be the son of Goose (played by Miles Teller.)
Needless to say, Rooster has A LOT of built up animosity towards Maverick, for different reasons. Rooster has absolutely no trust in Maverick, and all the young bucks think Maverick is a washed up old man no longer capable of leading a team of "the best of the best" fighter pilots. He quickly proves unequivocally, that he is the best the skies have ever seen.
I am choosing to keep this review short because I don't want to give anything away before you guys go and see this movie.
This is for sure gonna be the film of the summer.When you see it, spend the extra few bucks and see it in HD. There are times that the sound feels like it goes straight through your body.No joke. It's loud, it's rumbling and it's AWESOME!!! Top Gun Maverick was better than I could ever have imagined.I was surprised, and that's hard to do with me. I give this a solid 9.5.

Ok everyone.I think we have the 1st blockbuster movie of the year. Dr. Strang in the Multiverse of Madness.HOLY MOLY!! This movie was great from the beginning and didn't disappoint as the 2 hours and 6 minutes ticked away.
Let"s first talk about the great Dr. Stephen Strange. This guy is amazing!!! You don't want to like him, but his quick wit and humor makes him undeniably charming.
One of the main new characters introduced is a young woman named America Chavez, played by Xochitl Gomez. This girl is fierce and proves to be a perfect sidekick for the Good Dr. On a side note, one of the 1st things I noticed was the Progress Pride Flag pin she had on her jacket.We later find out that she has two moms. The diversity in this cast is undeniable and refreshing to finally see in Hollywood. Props to Marvel for finally tackling the issue.
Without spoilers, I will say there are TONS of cameos that are quite unexpected. With the multiverse, some characters aren't who you remember them to be. A little bit confusing, but with a Marvel genius sitting next to me in Haley, I managed to keep up.
This movie is a solid 9. I recommend it on the special effects alone, everything else is just a bonus!!
