Captain Sean is diligently working on a vessel that anchored too close to the shoreline.
โHeroes come in all forms! ๐ข๐ช Our Captain was on a mission to aid a disabled vessel when he spotted a struggling turtle in the ICW. With quick thinking, he contacted FWC, who asked where to pick it up. But our Captain had a better idea - he called our friends at U. S. Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce! โ๏ธ๐๐งก They gladly took in the little turtle until MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife biologists could arrive to provide the necessary care. โค๏ธ A big shoutout to our Captain and the Coast Guard for their compassion and quick action! ๐
Today we were at the Fort Pierce Yacht Club for the 2nd annual Chart Your Course event for the kids job fair. We had the pleasure of introducing several different Middle and High Schoolโs to what we do, along with various other Maritime industries to help let the kids know of the different job opportunities that are out there for them on the water.
As some may of have heard a terrible accident happened on Saturday in the Ft. Pierce Inlet after a 38ft Vessel capsized. There was a distress call out to channel VHF16 from a good Sam with 2 POB that were in the water. Quick to respond was Captain Tyce who was able to pull the crewmember out of the water as Captain Jason was first on scene to get the captain that reported a 6ft. Swell pulled the boat down upon approach inbound, the inlet. Everyone was recovered safely along with the vessel with minimal damage except for being submerged.
Last nights adventure for our Captains, they towed a 65โ Hatteras then onto todayโs adventureโs from a boat on the rocks to some migrants trying to call Fort Pierce home. Then a quick towing of a desalinization plant. Captain Jason and Sean have been very busy today.
**Missing Research Buoy** Have you seen it? Report to Jordon Beckler, Ph.D., at [email protected] with any observations of an adrift buoy system, debris, or possible sighting in the month of December or later -- even if you aren't certain they are remnants of the buoy system described below.
A research buoy located approximately 10 nautical miles northeast of Fort Pierce Inlet was functioning and reporting normally from the time of deployment on Sep. 26, 2023, until data transmission entirely stopped on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. The system had two independent communication systems, suggesting that this was not simply a minor issue such as a dead battery.
Local community members observed the buoy was no longer visible at the location during a site visit on Dec. 17, and FAU Harbor Branch researchers confirmed its absence in early January. We suspect a catastrophic incident that resulted in the destruction of the buoy tower frame, causing the communications systems to become submerged and lose satellite connectivity. Per the ship tracking automatic identification system, no vessels have reported their location within the buoyโs vicinity within the eight hours prior to the radio silence. However, not all ships are equipped with AIS.
Dropped off the Pilot safely, ensuring an es**rt for Invictus into the Port of Fort Pierce.
At Dock Side Marina, this 60โ Treasure recovery boat experienced water intrusion, however, Captainโs Sean and Jason acted quickly to address the issue, ensuring a positive outcome due to our rapid response
Unforeseen accidents can happen even with careful planning. Having a BoatUS membership is crucial for boaters as it provides coverage in case of unexpected events like running aground at odd hours such as 2:45 am when you have a dead low tide; saving you out-of pocket expenses!!
