Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! Interested in hearing about your students' day? Instead of asking "How was your day?" Try some of these questions on the way home from school, during dinner, or while getting ready for bed:
1. What was the best part of your day?
2. What was the funniest thing you saw today?
3. What was the best part of lunch (snack)?
4. Which kid in your class was the quietest? (Loudest? Most energetic?)
5. Which books did you read today?
6. Did you get or give any compliments today?
7. What was your teacher wearing today?
8. Which part of your classroom do you think I’d like the best?
9. What do you wish you could do more of at school?
10. What do you think I’d like best about your teacher?
11. Which activity at school today was your favorite? (Least favorite?)
12. What games would you like to be able to play at recess?
13. Which kid at school would you like to get to know better?
14. What’s something your teacher said today?
15. What would you like to be learning more about?
16. If you were the teacher tomorrow, what would you do?
17. What made you feel happy today?
18. How did you get to be a helper today?
Once your child starts talking, follow up with questions to keep the conversation going, such as:
- Oh, really?
- Tell me more.
- Then what happened?
- Why was that?
- What else?
- How’d that make you feel?

February Friends! Hearts, transportation and memories made in Preschool!
Due to the ice, and Portland Public School District's decision to close for the day- we are closed as well today- Friday February 3rd.
We will be closed today, Wednesday 1/18/17. The snow is melting and we will be back tomorrow- Thursday. YAY!
We will be CLOSED tomorrow, Tuesday, January 17th, following Portland Public School District's lead, and staying consistent with our policies contract. We understand that the amount of snow/ice days we've had this winter is amounting to an incredible number at this point, and our team is discussing how to proceed in response. Thank you for recognizing alongside us that this is a unique season that most of us haven't experienced and didn't anticipate!
We have all of our fingers crossed for school to be back on Wednesday.
NO SCHOOL Thursday 1/12. Too much snow to ensure safe transportation. Take care!
NO SCHOOL today: 1/9- due to treacherous road conditions. Stay safe at home, all. Hoping to see you tomorrow.
