Doggy spa is in session! You’ll notice that there are fewer dogs in one photo than the other - Agatha (mini dachshund) was evicted from the spa for refusal to wear a robe and constantly running around in the n**e. We’re not that kind of establishment!

Our lovely fish man gave me some salmon scraps for the dogs today ❤️ I won’t lie, they were quite pleased about it! Note in first photo there’s some chops licking in anticipation 🤣
My friend’s niece has just started a dog grooming business. She’s spent a long time training and qualifying and she’s lovely! I’m often asked if I can recommend groomers - I’d have no qualms about recommending Isla. Your pets will be in safe hands 🥰

Hi everyone. Unfortunately I’m not in a position to take on any further boarders or new clients at the moment. My day care group increased in size last year and in addition we may soon hear the pitter patter of our very own Leads and Trails tiny paws 🥰 🐶 … watch this space (Edit: Agatha the Miniature Dachshund is now taken up permanent residence with us 🥰)! This combination will make it tricky to give any extra doggie visitors the love, care and attention they deserve when away from home - I’m really sorry but I’d rather not give less than 100% service. I’ll let you know as soon as any spaces open up ❤️

Boarder, Izzy loves jumping onto my knee, putting her head on my shoulder and falling asleep 🥰 She’s not quite so keen on Mr Leads & Trails however and prefers to keep her distance … probably smells evil 🤣

I know I’m not an actual dog mum at the moment but I try my best to give all my day care dogs and boarders the “mum” experience while they’re with me. How thoughtful of Mr Leads & Trails to surprise me with this lovely card today with the names of all the dogs I’ve looked after ❤️

After the beach comes the drying! I discovered last week that Frida loved the hairdryer when she threw herself at my feet, tummy on show, as I did my post-shower blow dry.
I won’t be offended if you don’t watch the full 6 minutes of Frida at my beauty salon. You can probably get the picture after a few seconds 🤣
What better way to spend a Saturday morning than on the beach? Frida loved feeling the wind in her fur 🥰

Hello everyone. Thanks to your continued support … and your holidays 🤣 I now find myself booked solidly for the majority of the year ahead. I never thought I’d be saying that in February! I have the odd night free here and there but these come up very infrequently. Unless I have any cancellations I’m afraid I don’t have the capacity to look after any more of your lovely dogs this year 😢
It’s really important to me that the dogs associate their time at my home with enjoyable experiences. In order to encourage this I prefer to keep the groups small. It means I’m much more able to give dogs the individual attention they deserve and hopefully provide them with a stress free environment. It does however limit the number of dogs I can accept and I’m very aware of disappointing people when they request my help.
So in short, it’s not you, it’s me! 😁 I hope that makes sense. I will of course post any cancellations if they occur, and in the meantime please feel free to make requests as usual but just be aware that it’s likely I’ll have to regretfully decline 😢 x
Dog Walker, Pet Sitter and Experienced Former Vet Nurse
Welcome to Leads and Trails - East Lothian! Run by a fully insured, former veterinary nurse with 10 years experience working at the University of Edinburgh Hospital for Small Animals. I’m Kerry - in addition to my nursing qualifications I’m also an experienced pet sitter and dog walker. Due to the time I spent helping animals recuperate over the years I have developed a particular interest in walking with dogs who may have more challenges than others when it comes to getting out and about. This could possibly be due to amputation, chronic arthritis, or other age-related difficulties. With Leads and Trails - East Lothian, I look forward to walking with dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities - either able bodied or slightly less so! I’d be happy to discuss your dog’s exercise requirements on an individual basis and build their walks around those needs.
I also board dogs in my own home. My husband and I live in lovely Aberlady in East Lothian. We have a fully enclosed garden and lots of lovely walks nearby. While at our house your dog would live with us as though he or she was our own family pet. Your dog would be our only guest (unless of course you have more than one dog, in which case we’d be happy for all them to stay if you wished) so would get our sole attention. We provide food and water bowls, blankets, towels and toys - naturally you are welcome to provide your own items if you would prefer. In my experience dogs are more comfortable in their own beds so I would ask that if possible you bring this, along with dog food for the duration of your pet’s stay. I’ll provide you with regular updates, photos and videos so you can be assured that your dog is having a great time “on holiday”. I look forward to hearing from you!
