Day 1! Starting small, one teensy achievable step at a time, for long-term sustainability.
20 minute yoga practice.
EXTRA:
20 squats with arms overhead.
1 minute of bridge presses.
1 rep in the morning, 1 at night.
I salute you.
For generations, anyone born with a v***a, was sidelined from the game that the patriarchy was building to serve itself. Creating ladder-type structures and systems designed for climbing, competing, dominating and outdoing.
As each new system of economy was born, women were left further and further disadvantaged. Couldn't study, couldn't get a bank account, couldn't get a credit card, couldn't work, did not even have legal rights to refuse their husband's s*x.
This 'game' moved everyone further away from connection, community, collaboration, nature, creativity and family. It set us ALL up, regardless of s*x, for despair.
But women stood tall and strong, they made their way onto the field, proving that this stupid game could be played by anyone. But why the hell would we?
Now it's time to change the rules. It's time to play a new game. One that's inclusive, that props up the weakest, that goes back outside and remembers that the 'pitch' is planet earth, that celebrates individual strengths, that rises and falls with the sun and lengthens and shortens with the seasons.
Enough is enough. This game we're all playing of self-facilitated enslavement to jobs and social media, superannuation and separation, of competition over collaboration and correction over connection, is absolute rubbish.
This real life hunger games massacres kids without a bat of a patriarchal eye, rapes and murders women and mothers, slaughters and enalaves men and fathers.
There is no quick and simple solution but in all of our own individual way we can start to say no when something is not right, yes to putting kindness first, tending to nature instead of decimating it, no to it's destruction, taking responsibility for our own health and lifestyle choices to the best of our own ability.
To not wanting to win the game that exists but creating a much, much better one, that's fun for everyone.
Join me and a power squad of mid-life experts as we talk about all the ways to be and stay juicy as f**k in this 5 week Live, Interactive, Online Course.

Zoom in on me. I dare you. What you'll see is the face of a soon to be 49 year old woman who today is unbelievably tired. Maybe you'll see a little bit of yourself.
If you could zoom out you'd see a woman sitting in a crowded city food court, in a shopping mall, trying to look totally at home whilst looking totally exhausted.
What you couldn't see is my story, like I couldn't see yours. The story that sits beneath the mullet, the Dutch skin, the puffy eyes. The tale of mistakes, of accomplishments, of my loves, my biases, my memories, my wisdom and my ignorance. Just like I cannot claim to see yours.
All of my career has been driven by a relentless thirst for understanding humans, as a broadcaster, writer, author, Therapist and more recently, podcaster; to swim in the stories that sit inside these weird flesh vehicles we all wander around in.
We are the largest library on earth, a human tome of 8 billion living volumes and the countless number of those passed.
One thing I've learned from the thousands of interviews I've done is that inside every body, if you go down deep enough, is an insatiable desire to be understood, to belong, to be loved and to love.
Soft smiles and kind words are the most powerful thing in the world. Stop fighting. Start seeing.
Indeed, women at the peak of their careers, for far too long who've had to push through/hide/suppress/medicalise a natural process in order to maintain their 'viability' in the workplace, to not be seen as frail or faulty. It's long overdue for work environments to step up, to educate themselves, advocate for basic natural needs, generate openness and acceptance and support valuable female employees during this fundamental time of life.
Menopause policies are being adopted in workplaces. Is Australia ready for 'the change'? Australian workplaces could be losing women at the peak of their careers due to a lack of policy on menopause and its effects.
There's always someone wiser than you, more famous than you, richer than you calmer than you, fitter than you, faster than you.
But there is no-one else who is as perfectly you as you.
Not a single person on this planet carries your intricately unique skill set. Has experienced the billions of nuanced impressions, that form the one of a kind combination that is you..
You are not just a statistic. Nor just a majority or a minority. You are not just a yes or a no, a left or a right. You are a luscious smorgasbord of strengths and vulnerabilities and clarity and confusion. You are your own purpose.
You are precisely, preciously, essentially you.

What are some simple steps you can do daily to support the health of your va**na ?
* Firstly, eat well. Excess sugar, alcohol, high GI foods can alter va**nal microbiome negatively
* Get as much PANTS FREE time as possible, definitely when you sleep
* Use cotton underwear
* DO NOT use any creams, perfumes etc in your va**nal area
* DO NOT use soap or washes, your va**na will self clean, so simply use warm water in the shower/bath
* Use natural sanitary products, preferably organic so toxin/chemical free
* Keep your p***c hair, it’s there for a reason
* If you’re concerned about your va**nal health / microbiome check in with your trusted, connected health practitioner.

Whether we have kids or we don't, whether we want to be Mums or not, the purpose of a woman's monthly cycle is to ovulate for the possibility.
If the body is in stress, depletion, over activity or imbalanced, symptoms may arise. These symptoms act like alerts to tell us that something needs to be addressed, an internal email if you like from the part of our body that's tasked with the potential of procreating, letting us know that some action or refinement is needed.
It is the body's way of saying there’s work to be done to create some greater harmony internally.
Your cycle of ovulation is another amazing window into your health.
Mood swings, with little or no situational cause can be extremely confronting. For ourselves as well as those around us.
Trying to find our centre, our steadiness within a dynamic hormonal landscape (and modern lives that are busy as f**k), takes an all angled approach:
🌈 Simple fresh foods
🌈 Daily conscious movement
🌈 Commitment to healthy sleep routines
🌈 Hanging out outside
🌈 Practicing joy as a discipline
🌈 Kind deeds to yourself, others and the world around you
🌈 Addressing problematic relationships
🌈 AND a whole lot of self-forgiveness for when you do get nasty for no reason, cry without cause, explode without explanation and blame without basis.
It happens. To all of us.
Hi! My name's Lissie Turner. I'm a 48 year old Mother and Grandmother, I'm a radio broadcaster, author, podcaster, C-IAYT Therapist and I'm a confident, uncertain, dynamic, tired perimenopause-powered human.
I'm the ovaries behind Living Hormoniously, with a fierce and delicate intention to create positivity around all hormonal phases, to support, share tools and generate genuine excitement around this wild, natural, intuitive ride that is life in a female form.
This is all about being in flow, with our own bodies, with each other and with the natural world. It's about claiming our greatness by simply settling into the natural greatness that simply is life. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sending you a big hug and a high five from my hometown to yours x
Have you hit your forties and suddenly started snoring?
At around 45 years of age, women start to near the same stats as men when it comes to those raucous nighttime noises, leaping from approximately 3% of women who snore to nearly half!
Bloody taboos - such as women and snoring - have meant that nearly half of all women have hit the forties, started snoring and never discussed it with anyone.
WHY does snoring for women suddenly become a thing? You guessed it... Hormones. As estrogen declines, so does a certain tightness of tissue - all tissue - including that at the back of the throat. As the region softens with the hormonal shifts, the tissue begins to ‘flutter’ in the night during sleep.
What can be done? Stop being embarrassed for one. Two, start telling anyone in your life who shames you about it to shoosh their face. Once that’s done, certain yoga breathing techniques such as simhasana (lions breath), and foods that support your estrogen supply such as peas, lentils and linseed, lastly avoiding aggravating factors such as excess weight and booze.
Endo sux! Yoga therapy focuses on both the elimination (apana) and fluid (vyana) systems, when addressing this often brutal condition.
Targeting the elevated apana (unwanted debris), prioritising relaxation and rebalancing of the hormonal system, whilst honouring the need for pain management tools in the interim.
What foods get you juicy? Did you know there are specific foods to help nourish, supercharge, relax and support you for different parts of your cycle?
Food as a hormone regulator builds beautiful awareness between you and the intricacies of your beautiful body..
Here are some of them:
Beetroot and sweet potato - build blood.
Dark chocolate - to help muscles and bones.
Citrus - for building immunity and healthy kidneys.
Spinach and other Leafy Green Vegetables - to help break down estrogen excess.
Fish - for a healthy heart and brain.
And almonds for your eyes.
One of the cruelest masterstrokes of misogyny was to wrap a woman's worth up in her capacity to bear children. Menopause becoming a symbol of a woman's value expiring. Over time even women becoming convinced that Menopause meant old, it meant shrinking into the background whilst as men aged their power grew.
Can you imagine an 80 year old woman being voted in as the President of the United States? Can you imagine a woman being voted in at all? Still! FFS.
As a woman ages, she only becomes MORE valuable, not less. Her wisdom is greater, she has transitioned through decades of cycles that have given her so many different perspectives and learnings, she has surmounted the odyssey of perimenopause and when clear in herself, can settle into the powerful steadiness of post-menopause.
Menopause is NOT the end of life, it is just the beginning. Menopause is not the cliff edge from which you fall, it is the summit you've reached to survey where you would like to adventure next!

Somedays you will feel fractured.
Your mind pulling one way, your body another. But all of the changing moments, the highs, the lows, the confusion, the clarity, it is all the big picture of you - beautiful, dynamic, learning, growing, perfectly imperfect.
Take a moment right now and repeat this mantra three times:
I am healthy.
I am whole.
I am love.
There are four phases in a woman’s life where the surges of the hormonal fluctuations can be somewhat tumultuous. Puberty, Pregnancy, Postpartum and Perimenopause.
But, the little known fact is that we can play an enormous part in how those hormones affect us.
How can we soften and lean into the fluctuations?
The way we nourish ourselves and the way we nurture ourselves in all of these phases is key.
There are specific herbs, foods, movements and breathwork practices that can support us during these times.
However, often simply having awareness, acceptance and a compassionate attitude towards ourselves, goes a long way.

Here’s to women standing up against the status quo, speaking loudly and proudly about their cycles, speaking positive words about their flow and clinking cheers to their ever-changing internal landscapes, self-guided by the nuanced fluctuations of their hormones.
Consistent positive habits are the best way to live a happy, healthy life. In the chaos of a woman’s daily life, healthy living may get shoved to the back of the closet, along with our fab dress up costumes that need to see the light of dat a helluva lot more often!
A daily 15 minute morning yoga practice on waking, good food choices, going outside, conscious breathing and prioritizing joyful mental health will all improve your overall health.
In addition to a healthy lifestyle, it’s also important to consider the quality of everything you absorb from social media, to music, to people, to books and always aim to refine everything so it all feeds the way you want to be feeling.
As an o***y owner, eating well is one of the key fundamentals for good hormonal health. But what does eating well mean?
🌱 Fresh is best. Whatever you can grow and make is number 1! Homegrown tomatoes, chilli, basil, eggs and homemade sourdough (pictured) is my luteal go to!
🌱 Feel into what feels best for you. How do you feel half an hour/an hour after you've eaten?
🌱 Eat at the right time for you. Your body will tell you when it's hungry! That's when the right time is for you!
🌱 Eat the right amount for you. Half your belly for food, a quarter for water and a quarter for fasting.
🌱 And lastly, sit the heck down! Food is your everything when it comes to building new tissue, give it the space it deserves. Plus it then also creates that much needed pause on everything else.
Enjoy your brilliant, beautiful body that yours and yours alone x
Vaginal fun fact!
Your va**na - the internal part of your v***a - is the most acidic part of your body. This acidic environment acts like a defense system, that protects your precious vag from infection, nasty bacteria and yeast. If only it were strong enough to keep out those s*xual encounters we regret instantly at the moment of or**sm!
It is this acidic environment that ‘bleaches’ the crotch of your dark coloured un**es. No, you are not alone! Almost everyone with a va**na during the ovulating years will experience this crotch-bleaching event in their favourite black knickers.
After menopause, your va**na becomes naturally more alkaline, making it more prone to bacterial infections.
Tips for good va**nal care: Your va**na is a highly advanced self-cleaning organ, don’t wash or do**he your ph delicate bits with soaps or any other unnatural products that can disrupt your precious eco-system.
For increased lubrication if required, use beautiful rich, neutral, nourishing organic black sesame oil, otherwise just leave your vag to do it’s thang.

Want to know why your s*xual desire spikes up to insatiable and then drops into don't-even-look-at-me mode at different times during your cycle and during your life?
At several points throughout the month, you as an o***y owner, get gifted with a little bonus blip of testosterone. During ovulation (for obvious baby-making reasons being yelled out from your egg) but also again just before you bleed. So why the latter, when the egg is long gone?
If we look deeper than physiological science and into behavioural science, this little testosterone treasure makes sense in the context of emotional need and connection - a last minute spike of intimate connection at the end of a potentially tough pre-bleed week (make-up s*x) and at the beginning of a few days wanting to go into the cave of self-care, reflection and dreaming.
When you become more aware of your spikes, you can plan for those beautiful moments and get the most amount of high quality pleasure out of them as possible.
