Knitting up a baby blanket for a friend whose expecting her first grand any! This knits up super quickly and is a simple yet beautiful pattern for a boy or a girl. You can buy the pattern from my Ravelry shop, its called Lacey Tulip Blanket (super original I know...any better ideas?)

Worked in Yarn Bee Fleece Lite, seamless on size 12 needles.

Currently knitting up old patterns in new yarns so they make better samples. Deep Ocean is the first to get this do-over. This gorgeous, fun yarn is from which I picked up while they were in town for the market festival last month. The base is called Frenzy, its a super soft 85% superwash merino, 15% nylon blend, perfect for socks or in my case SHAWLS! The variegated is called Hey Jude, and the pink is called Pink-a-tastic. I am altering this sample slightly so its smaller and uses just one ball of each color.

I am a notoriously slow knitter so I hope to get this done by the end of May 🤞

While visiting my in laws on Virginia I was thrown back in time to when I used to play with the whirlygigs from maple trees. When I grew up I discovered they were called Samara...while I was searching for a name for this scarf pattern. It actually a mirror ended scarf. And one of my first patterns I designed (you can tell as I look like an infant in that modeling picture). I really need to add it to my queue of knitting up new samples for yarn that you can actually purchase! This one was knit in Rowan Tapestry, a beautiful single ply DK weight yarn. Any suggestions for a yarn? Could be lace, fi*****ng, DK, aran...it might be fun to see it in a more delicate yarn.

I also need more pictures...haven't done any in over a decade...eek.

(And yes, I am also gonna plant these samara and see about creating a mini Los Maples here in Natalia)

This beauty I designed in 2019 called Deep Ocean. Many of my patterns are designed around color and this color combination just screamed at me ocean. Its an asymmetrical triangle shawl with an edging knitted with the main body. Unfortunately, these colourways are no longer available as the dyer passed away. But there are many wonderful yarn dyer with beautiful dyed fi*****ng yarn that would work beautifully.

Look for lots of updates and post show casing my designs. AND great news 3 years after moving (and 4 years after COVID), the knitting bunnies have returned and I am designing again! I am ALSO starting a fun in-depth research project (I will disclose soon, although my in person friends know what it is, since I've been gushing about it for months).

What ARE knitting bunnies?? That's what I like to call my design ideas...they usually come all at once (sometimes very overwhelming) and they tend to multiply like bunnies.

The Mountain Laurels have bloomed! Its my favorite flowering tree, it reminds me of the lilacs my grandma had. Unfortunately they don't bloom for very long, so to remember them I designed a quick little shawl to remember them all year long. Check out Calia in my Ravelry shop today (Birdy's Knits)!
