As you read this some of you will be strangers to me, some will be family, friends, friends of friends but i hope you all read this story and slip into my shoes as you read on. To many who know me im just the average 26 year old girl, but really im 1 in 5000. Im sure you are all wondering why i am 1 in 5000 and this is where my story begins. arly 2005. As I walked up to the doors I knew today would change my life, mum had booked me an appointment to see my GP as I was 15 and having been fully developed in more ways than one, I still had not started my periods ( most of you women who read this will think " Lucky girl" yes i suppose in ways that you may be right. As I perched my bum on the edge of the seat in the waiting room i was running my mind over different scenarios ..... late starter, eeeekkkk im really a boy (kidding) or im some kind of weird alien from outer space, my list of crazy scenarios was endless. Ahhh it was time to find out if i am this crazy alien from another planet invading earth!! ..... sorry to disappoint you but im not, im just 1 in 5000 - i am still at this time unaware of this. My GP was unable to come to a conclusion and felt it was best to refer me to the local gynae clinic at Medway maritime hospital to see Dr Helen Watson, the appointment came through the post about 2 weeks after being seen by my GP. I awaited nervously for my appointment at the Hospital. Location : Medway Maritime Hospital - Gynae Clinic March 2005
Once again my bum is perched on another chair this time in the waiting room at the hospital, im feeling good still about the fact im not an alien! but im slightly concerned about what the outcome might be today. okay calm down Lauren! I was greeted by a very warm and welcoming smile, took another seat and awaited to hear her conclusion.... one question, two questions, three questions, twenty questions, jesus its turning into a personal quiz! " Lauren, after reading your history and taking lots of details I feel you may have a slight blockage which is causing you not to have periods. we will need to do a small operation to confirm this and also an ultrasound scan prior to your operation "
Hmm a blockage that does not sound too bad, I walked out feeling rather good! Location : Kingfisher Ward Medway Hospital 5th April 2005

Sitting in my snazzy theatre gown whilst pogging at other people laying in their beds, trying to take my mind of my operation, you see today was D-day I would more than likely know today what is wrong with me! Oh my do I feel groggy, I can just about see but what i do see is empty seats next to me, this is not right mums always there when I have woke from previous operations/treatments i must have fell back to sleep because the next time my eyes open mums sitting there with my step dad Ian, all puffy eyed. " mum is everything okay?"
mum replied " Its okay Lorzey, Mrs Watson will be over to see you soon"
its was not long before Mrs Watson came over and fed me lots of information and within minutes the words that where in bold underlined writing where.... " Lauren you do understand, you where born without a womb don't you?" I didn't want to talk no more, nor did i want to hear no more, i slowly turned to my step dad and asked for a sausage sandwich. I awoke feeling sore, tired, tearful, lost for words the emotions where endless, everything that day seemed a blur visitors came and went and none of their loving caring words helped me feel any better. I wanted to be at home not here surrounded by people, so mum got me discharged early and I got to go home. Mum and Ian had my bed brought down into the lounge so I was next to their bedroom, the nightmares begun that night, to be honest all the medication I was taking probably did not help. The next few days where a blur just like the day of the operation, people came and went, brought cards and gifts to make me feel better but although I was very thankful was full of hate, what had I done wrong, I would make a good mummy so why punish me? After a few days and some research we finally had a name for my condition, Mayer Rokitansky Kauser Hauser Syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Müllerian_agenesis)

The next few weeks passed and I received a letter from Elizabeth Garret Anderson Hospital in London they specialised in my condition, I was to meet with a consultant there for specialist therapy. i completed my therapy with them and was discharged on an open access basis meaning i could go back and see them should i need them. Life seemed to stop some days and all I could focus on was the fact I would never feel tiny feet kicking inside of my tummy nor would i ever be able to rub the huge bump growing in front of me, but i knew the determination and the thought of the healthy eggs growing inside of me would get me through this, along with the support of my family and friends. I was fifteen when I was diagnosed, I thought it had effected me life then but the heartache and emotional journey has only just begun, I am 26 now and in a very loving relationship with the man of my dreams, we have our lovely dog called Bear who acts as therapy for me. But we want to complete our family unit by having a little baby to love and care and help grow into a wonderful person. surrogacy costs around £10,000-£30,000 I applied for help with funding, I wasn't asking for them to give me the full amount but just some support just like they do for infertile patients with wombs, but they declined me help without even sending it to panel, I was bitter about this but bitterness then made my mind start ticking away and I decided that I would have to raise the funds myself, so I held a fundraiser with all my family and friends, we raised just over £1500 I have since added to the fund and I will get there. I know that there is now the option for Womb Transplant and I am lucky enough to be on the list, I have everything crossed and obviously I would love to have a transplant but I am a great believer that everything happens for a reason, so if I am meant to have the transplant then I will and if not then there is another path calling my names. My heart breaks for others in my situation that are not able to find inner peace with MRKH and other fertility problems, but dont allow it to turn you bitter, every negative has a positive, but you need to find it. My Name is Lauren
I am a May baby and have just turned 31. I live in Kent which is a County in the South East of England. I live with my boyfriend Luke and our BIG dog Bear. I am a daughter to four wonderful parents ....Yes that's correct 4! I am a sister to one sister and an auntie to 3 beautiful children.

I have battled with Anxiety and depression since the age of 19 and have had a few problems medically, which brings me to telling you that I am also 1 in 5000.... I have a condition called MRKH Syndrome which medically puts me in the "infertile" bracket as MRKH means I have no womb..... BUT I do have 2 beautifully functioning ovaries.... so technically I am fertile I just have no oven for my eggs to cook. Becoming a mum is one of my biggest dreams and I hope I can share my journey with all my new customers/followers/supporters, in the future.

Yep there is no denying it they are my FRIENDS because of MRKH, we all have it and we met online... BUT they are MY BEST FRIENDS because of their pure LOYALTY, because they are there for me 110%! In fact they are not just my best friends, they are FAMILY!
