Congratulations to Leo, Yung, Terry, Louis and Daryl! Thanks for all the contributions and efforts!

Please always remember:
Home wasn't a set house, or a single town on a map. It was wherever the people who loved you were, whenever you were together. Not a place, but a moment, and then another, building on each other like bricks to create a solid shelter that you take with you for your entire life, wherever you may go.

Effulgence's first event --- Annual Dinner!
Please come and support:)

“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light” – Theodore Roethke, American poet.

Greetings! As the newly inaugurated cabinet of the Society, we are delighted to invite you to our first event, the Annual Dinner. This year, the theme for the Annual Dinner is “Exuberance”. The word “exuberance” signifies our hope that the camaraderie within the Society would blossom abundantly like flowers in springtime through this joyous occasion.

History is hereditary only in this way: we, all of us, inherit everything, and then we choose what to cherish, what to disavow, and what do do next, which is why it's worth trying to know where things come from.

As you all may have noticed, the whole city is smoldering with discontent as the HKSAR Government fails to respond to our demand for democracy. In response to the pro-democracy demonstrations and class boycott campaign, we, Eminence, are planning a series of activities in due time to get you involved in the 'mass movement', which is definitely determinative to Hong Kong's democratic development.

Apart from the activities held within our Society, there will also be joint-society activities in support of the students' strike organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Students. More details regarding these activities will be released soon. The whole series of activities will start off by the assembly tomorrow. Details of the assembly are as follows:

Date: 29th September, 2014 (Monday)
Time: 10:00am
Venue: 3/F Podium, Academic and Administration Building, Baptist University Road Campus
Dress code: Black

This struggle for democracy in Hong Kong is unprecedented and each one of you is indispensable in this long-time battle because ''you can jail a Revolutionary, but you can't jail the Revolution" -- Huey Newton. We are unstoppable!

Declaration

We, Eminence, are hereby announcing that we are taking part in this pro-democracy movement without any hesitation and regret.
In order to change, even a little, this nasty and obscene situation of Hong Kong and also to fulfill the duties of protesting for intellectual freedom,
we, the cabinet of the English Language and Literature Society 2014-2015, declare that we will fight for the future of Hong Kong,
as well as any possible benefits for the members of the Society firmly, sternly and uncomprisingly.
This week will be a crucial, but also harsh, time for us to witness the collective power of Hong Kong citizens and the epochal success of the movement.

You may consider to participate in the related activities in order to know more.
